Due to pandemic and observing county regulations my outdoor events will be respecting physical distancing and mask will be worn if coming into 6 feet of myself, fellow guest who are not of your own party or if on narrow trails passing fellow hikers. Depending upon the area we will be going to please allow up to 30 minutes of travel time. I have included this time into the Experience
This experience is an introduction to the diversity of desert ecosystems of the Mojave Desert, we will explore the details of the ecology of our native plants. There is no wild harvesting.
Guest will meet medicinal and non medicinal plants, wild foods and have an opportunity to taste some of the herbal preparations I have made using cultivated native flora.
For the Native Plant Tea portion, we will sip on a tea made and explore its physical energetics and contemporary herbal uses.
This experience is a beautiful introduction to bio-herbalism and intro to why we should cultivate native flora and a peek into the fascinating world of plant anatomy.
Other things to note
Please check the weather and dress accordingly. Please bring at least 1-2 liters of water per person, snack or a lunch. Don't forget your hats, hiking shoes, sunscreen!

We will be hiking and exploring native plants in pinyon-juniper woodlands or creosote bush scrub and riparian zones. We will start the day with a plant tea exploration with a native plant, where we will delve into taste, physical energetics and herbal actions of the plant. I customize plant hikes to meet the guest hiking experience. This is a fun way to meet out desert flora and introduction to herbalism.

This was the first thing I did when I arrived at Joshua Tree, and I highly recommend doing it that way. Christina was a wealth of information and I really appreciated her teaching style. I learned so much from her and the rest of my time spent in JT was much more informed. I felt I could better appreciate the plants and wildlife I was seeing with every hike bc of starting the trip with her.

Christina's herbal hike was fantastic! She had a deep understanding of plants and the environment, I learned a lot about plants specific to the region. She also brought tea and herbs for us to try and actually experience what she was talking about. Definitely would go again!
