Students are immersed in a hands on practical experience, producing beautiful, tasty and nutritious baking and confections while learning the theory and science of baking and the knowledge to reproduce the products at home.
Seraphina's Oven offers a variety of courses from the expert to the beginner and also family fun or corporate team-building events.
Join a scheduled course or contact the host to arrange a bespoke day of baking activities.

Seraphina’s Oven rose from the idea of having a working bakery/classroom next to a wood-fired brick oven. The enthusiasm and support of the community helped that idea evolve into a fully-equipped bakery. Seraphina’s launched at the beginning of November 2018 as a baking and pastry training venue. Martin Barnett, the principal, was Chair of the Professional Baking and Pastry Department at Vancouver Island University for many years and has been involved in the Artisan baking movement since the 1970's. Martin is a Red Seal trained Baker and also sits as Director on the Board of the Baking Association of Canada. Martin and his colleagues welcome you to join one of Seraphina's Oven's unique hands-on baking, pastry or pizza classes

Seraphina's Oven is set in a beautiful garden only 500 m from the sea and beautiful Ladysmith Harbour on Vancouver Island. Guest will enjoy a family style meal during their class; outside, weather permitting, around the giant wooden bakers' table or inside in the hosts' dining room.
