Hi! I am a big believer in big cities and fascinated by the urban transportation infrastructure that supports such levels of density and dynamism.

I am from NYC and I have previously worked for NYC Transit. I studied urban planning at school, and I am a licensed NYC tour guide, as well as an AICP certified urban planner. I am also a member of the Guides Association of NYC (GANYC).

I currently work on NYC infrastructure projects, advocate for public transit, and serve on the Board of Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT).

Great and unique tour for anyone interested in the politics, technology, and history of the subway and transportation in NY more generally. One of the most information-packed 3 hour walking tours I've been on; Rayn's insider knowledge of the workings of the subway, from the reasons for the subway's decline to the function of various devices you see on every platform was impressive. Added bonus--the tour goes all over Penn Station and Grand Central and covers that history too. Highly recommended not just for tourists but also longtime New Yorkers.

Rayn's Subway tour was such a great experience. Learning about the history and secrets of the subways was a very unique experience that made me feel like the heart and soul of New York was running through my veins. Rayn has more knowledge and experience with subways than anyone that I have ever met. Having worked for the MTA in the past, Rayn shows throughout the tour how detailed his knowledge truly is. This tour will be one of the highlights of your trip to New York or if you are already a New Yorker, you will gain a new respect for the intricacies of the subways.

Rayn is a native New Yorker who has had a lifelong passion for the NYC transit systems, and that passion shone through on our tour. The tour involved visiting a selection of midtown stations, and at each one Rayn was able to provide historical context for why things were built the way they were and show us interesting sights that remain today. The small group nature of the experience allowed for lots of time for questions along the way. Definitely recommend to those interested in the subway.

Rayn’s tour was truly the best walking tour I have ever experienced! He is clearly extremely passionate about the topic and did not only share countless details (which I would never otherwise know), but created a compelling story to follow along the way. He was a true expert and professional, and also very thorough, courteous, and fun. Great value too, since he combines tours of the subway, Penn Station, and Grand Central and more, and uses all the sites to compare and contrast and share his expert vision for NYC. Learned a lot and definitely recommend.

We did the Midtown tour (our understanding is that he has a Midtown and Downtown tour) and were blown away. Rayn's tour was thorough and immersive, leaving me with a new appreciation for the wonder that is the New York City subway system. It's clear that Rayn not only has an unparalleled understanding of the subway's history/operations, but that he's extremely passionate about sharing it with others. If you're even remotely interested in public transit and want a fresh perspective, I highly recommend Rayn's tour. Looking forward to future ones!

Rayn's tour of the Subway was one of, if not the most informative experiences I've ever had on such a tour. Rayn knew about everything from previously existing railroads to secret passageways, and he made sure that a single minute didn't go by without a new tidbit of information. There is a lot of walking, be prepared for that, but it was well worth it for the sights and secrets we saw. If you're a railfan (or even have a simple appreciation for rail) you should absolutely take this tour.
