Qué harás

After a short introduction and slide show about Australian native birds, we will set out on a bird walk in one of two locations in the Blue Mountains depending on the season, weather and other conditions. The main aim is to actually see native birds in their natural settings and you will definitely see birds and often chicks.
After the walk, we will return to a comfortable setting with time to discuss the bird sightings and answer any questions. We will discuss how to learn more about birds, including local, national and international groups. Time needed is approximately two hours. Please contact me for alternative dates or private tours.
Other things to note:
This is a fun and enjoyable learning experience for all ages. Children may need some preparation so they are ready to listen and quietly observe on the walk. During the introduction and Q&A, talking and laughing are encouraged!

JoAnne is an amateur birding expert who loves native Australian birds and observes them daily including endangered and threatened species. She is a member of the Blue Mountains Bird Observers and participates in bird counts with Birdlife Australia. She enjoys introducing Australian native birds to many people informally including their family groups, nesting habits, how they rear their chicks, and what we can all do to ensure native birds prosper. As a retired librarian, JoAnne has access to professional/specialist information and professional experts. Her aim is to share basic knowledge with others. The experience includes a bird identification chart for birds found in the Blue Mountains region to take home.

Donde estarás

We will meet at a private property in the Blue Mountains in Wentworth Falls. From the starting point, we will see birds and then walk to the Wentworth Falls lake to see more. We will walk approximately 2 km return depending on the conditions and how many birds we see. Usually, it is a slow pace so we can observe and see the wild birds from a distance. Note, it is a quiet walking experience with talking at the end of the walk.

JoAnne was a wonderful and warm guide. We really enjoyed our walk around the lake and learning about the different water birds that live there.

JoAnne was super friendly and knowledgeable. I learned not just about birds but also other local creatures, people, and places. And it was amazing to see all those birds right up close right in her backyard!
