Qué harás

This is a full 8-9 hour day experience starting and finishing in Sydney, including food and drinks.
Here is step by step outline of the day. This can be altered somewhat to meet your needs and interests :-
1) From Sydney its is 2 hour drive of 134 km to Clarence, via the Bells line of Road. We will have a coffee break on the way at a scenic spot with views.
2) We then go a further 25 km drive on unsealed roads to the Glow Worm Tunnel carpark. ( Along the way we have to drive through the first railway tunnel with headlights on. We then have a brief photo stop overlooking the "Gardens of Stone National Park"
3) From the carpark it is a 1 km walk to the Glow Worm Tunnel.
4) We walk through the 402 m tunnel and view the Glow Worms.
5) There are two options to return to the car. 1) Walk out via a canyon with awesome water carved stone cliffs. This usually means getting wet feet. 2) Walk back through the Glow Worm tunnel.
6) Drive back via scenic drive down into the historic town of Lithgow.
7) We then head home back up the mountains via the pass to Mount York and on to Katoomba.
8) Time permitting we will have a sparkling wine, at a sunset view point.
9) From Katoomba it is a 1.5 hour drive back to Sydney.

I am an experience Tour Guide with 16 years experience, taking guests to all corners of the globe. I am passionate about wildlife, photography and getting out of urban environment into the natural landscape untouched by man. I have been taking friends to the Glow Worm Tunnel for over 20 years. Apart from this unique experience of these bioluminescence insects, the area itself is a place of outstanding natural beauty. There are different options on this tour and includes a few scenic viewpoints in the Blue Mountains on the way. I can tailor make the day based on your interests.

Donde estarás

The Glowworm Tunnel is an historic, disused railway tunnel between Lithgow, New South Wales and Newnes, New South Wales, Australia. It is notable for its resident glow-worms, the bioluminescent larvae of Arachnocampa richardsae, a type of fungus gnat. The tunnel is contained within the Wollemi National Park via a 25 km unsealed corrugated road. Outside the tunnel, the area features spectacular gorges, caves and scenery.

Más consejos

Whether can be cooler in mountains so bring a jacket. Also a small hand towel to dry your feet if you choose the canyon walk option.

Qué llevar

It is often wet on the tunnel floor so non slip shoes are best. The 1 km walk from the car park is mainly flat with some uneven spots and some steps. If you wish to walk out via the canyon then be prepared to get foot wear wet and up to knee deep water. I
