Qué harás

To many, the Hasidic world is shrouded in mystery and secrecy—well, not anymore.

You’ll kick off your experience at the Hasidic Scribe to examine religious artifacts and get a firsthand look at the creation of holy Judaica items. Then it's off to the 770 Synagogue to get a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of daily prayer services.

Followed by a walk through of the community seeing the local traditional shops and a look at the daily life of Hasidic Brooklyn!

The tour continues rain or shine, even in the snow (just bring boots). If the tour ever needs to be canceled you will be notified by email and by phone and will be fully refunded.

My name is Rabbi Yoni Katz and I was born in Netanya, Israel. Now, I’m a proud Brooklynite. Several years ago, I launched a campaign called “Unite the Beards” to unify the various demographics that were rapidly changing the face of Brooklyn. I aimed to welcome our new neighbors and grow beyond our differences. This led to the birth of JewishBrooklyn.nyc, which offers visitors from all across the world an inside look at the “people of the book.”

Mayer and Yoni’s tour was such a meaningful and interesting experience! I especially enjoyed being invited into Mayer’s home in Crown Heights, sitting around the table learning about Hasidic Judaism, and getting to speak with his mother, who showed us around her kosher kitchen. We visited several Hasidic and traditional places around the neighborhood and were shown a very different side of NYC with a lot of thoughtful explanation, thanks to Mayer. I learned so much through speaking with Mayer and the people he introduced us to and appreciated his additional suggestions for exploring the neighborhood. 150% recommend!

Mayer gave me a wonderful tour of Chasidic life in Crown Heights. We visited the original Chabad Center and learned about the fascinating history of this Jewish group. I got to put on tefillin and participate in a Jewish tradition that goes back hundreds of years. Mayer was incredibly thoughtful and informative throughout the tour. A unique New York experience for anyone interested in religious culture and tradition. Highly recommended!

Yoni will not give you a brochure experience but rather is concerned with introducing you to his Hasidic culture and its many sides through a diverse set of people and locations. And more than anything, he’s concerned with removing surface differences to communicate the deeper similarities we all share. I would highly recommend.

Yoni was a great guide into this private world. It was a treasure to see into the lives of this Jewish community. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. I was happy to learn about the balance between the modern world and this devout group that upholds the values of God family and community. JM New Orleans

One of the best experiences I've ever had in NYC. I found Rabbi Yoni's community to be fascinating and largely misunderstood, and his tour was exceptionally welcoming and interesting.

Yoni was an excellent host to me me and my two twelve year old nephews. This is an excellent experience to meet and interact with others from a different religion and ask ANY questions we had. We got to visit a family home as well. I would totally recommend this tour to others! Thank you Yoni for a special experience!
