Qué harás

We will begin our classes with teaching everyone how to make pasta from scratch: ravioli, spaghetti, tagliatelle! We provide also a vegan alternative with dough without eggs. You will learn how to do 3 types of long pasta, 3 of short, and 4 different kind of ravioli. You can take this knowledge with you to your own kitchen with a copy of our recipes for you. Last but not least: bring your own bottle of wine! Cheers! At the end you’ll can taste your handmade pasta!

Hi everybody! I’m Lucia, head chef and co- owner of Mattarello Cooking lab, and me and my husband Francesco are both pasta makers. I’m from Italy and grew up with my grandma who is the ninja of the tagliatelle. I start making pasta from when I was six and I never stop. I also tried to be an attorney in Italy but food is my passion and in 2010 I invest my scholarship to open my first little bakery-pasta shop and then another one bigger in the center of Milan. Last year I moved in San Diego with Francesco and we really would like share our passion whit you!

We will conduct our classes in our beautiful bistro in the heart of historical Gaslamp quarter in San Diego. We will offer the experience while the restaurant will be closed to the public: in this way we can stay focused on the lessons and offer best experience possible.

Amazing experience! Francesco made the class rally fun and simple to follow. Best part was getting to take some of your creations home. Would definitely recommend if you’re in SD.

Totally a great thing to do. I loved the experience. Great location. I had a great time with Lucia. Appreciated been able to bring my own bottle of wine and shared a glass. It was very special to me because at the time of my class I was the only one there so it was great. Will totally recommend it and suggest for everyone to do if you don't know yet how to make pasta :-D

Fransesco was wonderful. His humor was welcomed and made the experience more personal. He allowed us to experience the entire process at our own pace and was attentive enough to provide us encouraging feedback. Never having done this before, I felt like I could do this at home for friends and love ones. This was a gift for my boyfriends birthday and we both left wanting to come back again. If you’re in town, make a reservation! Don’t forget your vino! You won’t regret it. Their location was perfect and wasn’t hard to find parking nearby.

Great! Francesco taught our class. It was only my wife and I that day, so it felt nice and personal. It was a very nice and chill way to spend our noon. The lesson was simple enough that I am able to actually remember the steps to do it at home (which we definitely will), and the time spent with Francesco was very enjoyable, a Genuine and good guy. We made different types of pasta, got it cooked, and tried it with a delicious red sauce. Price vs time spent was very good, I would definitely recommend this class to others looking to spend a couple hours with friends in a fun environment. Thanks!

We had Francesco for our experience and he was so funny and accommodating for our group of 12. The class was relatively simple and very quick because, we learned, did and ate all within the 2 hours. Everyone had such a great time and was engaged the entire time. Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your knowledge!
