It was a fantastic experience for the first time picking mushrooms. I would totally recommend for everyone travel to Kingston. Although the weather was a little bit upset, but it just make this trip so unique, crazy and fun, that I couldn’t have it in anywhere of my life. I love it! And the host is so friendly, make you so comfortable and interesting with this trip.

We thought the experience was great and learned so much about edible mushrooms, fruits and wild flowers. Ruthie is pretty down to Earth, friendly and knowledgeable. The hike is about 4hrs in duration, but you are not covering a lot of distance since there is lots to see and talk about. There are no inclines or challenging areas in the hike just some off the path wandering. Be sure to pack lots of water as there is little to no breeze in the woods and come prepared with bug spray because there are no shortage of bugs in the forest. Overall, we found the experience to be interesting and would recommend to others interested in learning more about mushrooms.

It was a unique experience and enjoyable way to spend a morning. As hikers we really appreciated the learnings which we hope to apply in future hikes. The host Ruthie was quite knowledgeable, friendly and easy going which made it very pleasant. We were lucky to find a good batch of mushrooms as we were late in the season (and made for a delicious side dish with our dinner). The forest Ruthie explores is beautiful and a large space where our dog could also enjoy the morning walk with other dogs out on walks. The meeting place was convenient with the forest nearby which made it all very smooth.

Ruthie is kind and the hike was lovely. Due to time of year we only came across 1 flush of mushrooms. Would have enjoyed finding more but we had fun regardless!

Ruthie is very knowledgeable about culinary mushrooms. It wouldn't be something I would feel comfortable picking up the mushrooms on my own. The Miyatacki mushrooms we picked was amazing. So now we'll just have to cook and enjoy it. The weather was just perfect and walking away from the trails is amazing. We even saw a couple of deer and lots of chickadees. We also dug up wild ginger, (a lot smaller than the Asian ginger) but the smell is just as amazing.
