Qué harás

Step through time as you are immersed in stories of Hawaiʻi from the year 500 to present day, and learn of what truly lies "beyond paradise."

Storytelling is a Hawaiian tradition as our language was originally a spoken language / oral. Missionaries later introduced the writing system that we use today.

This truly is a unique opportunity to spend time with a native Hawaiian and to learn about our kingdom, it's history, and our culture.

I am a kanaka (Hawaiian) born and raised on Maui. I've seen the good and bad of these islands, and I've also lived it.

In 2013, I graduated from a prestigious Hawaiian school, which helped in my understanding of the corruption not only here at home but all over the world.

Donde estarás

We will gather at "Kehalani Mauka Park," which at this time does not have an official address. The best closest address belongs to Pu'u Kukui Elementary School (3700 Kehalani Mauka Pkwy, Wailuku, HI 96793). Do NOT turn into the school -- keep driving straight BUT slow down, the park will be to the right. Look for a big Hawaiian flag, that will be me.

Ian is amazing. He is knowledgeable about the topic and also extremely animated. Acting out traditional Hawaiian rituals and singing + playing beautiful Hawaiian music. I understand much more now about the recent history of Hawaii and that is gratifying.

Not what I expected - not a ghost walk tour but a really intimate storytelling experience in a beautiful location. Was interesting, funny, culturally enriching, and heartbreaking at moments. Would recommend for people interested in a different experience from the usual "touristy" stuff.

This is the sort of experience where you can't really know what to expect for sure. And I did not expect to be so powerfully moved by Ian and Adam's storytelling, singing, guitar and ukulele playing, cultural ceremonies, and spirit of aloha. And how Ian managed to condense so many hundreds of years of history into such a short period of time is pretty impressive. Don't miss this one!

Great insight into the history and languages along with current societal issues going on right now in Hawaii. We loved the music. Ian has a beautiful voice and sings traditional and current Hawaiian songs.

As a tourist it isn't easy that one can connect to the soul of a place and Ian brought that connection to the time we spent together.
