Experiencias con bebidas alcohólicas en Marruecos

When deciding whether to become an Airbnb experience host, it's important for you to understand the laws in your country. As a platform and marketplace we do not provide legal advice, but we want to provide some useful links that may help you better understand laws and regulations that may apply to different sorts of activities in Morocco. This list is not exhaustive, but it should give you a good start in understanding some key issues. If you have questions, contact national and city agencies directly, or consult a local lawyer or tax professional. For more information on the types of rules and laws that might apply to experiences in general, please see the general information articles about experiences.

Please understand that this page is for informational purposes - it is general, not comprehensive, and it is not legal advice. Please also note that we don’t update this information in real time, and you should always confirm that the laws or procedures have not changed recently.*

The sale, purchase and consumption of alcohol is tightly regulated in Morocco. These rules will apply to most experiences that involve alcohol, especially if you plan to provide alcohol to guests for consumption on your premises (even at your home, for example, as a wine-tasting or where drinks are served with a home-cooked meal), or to take with them when they leave (even in closed bottles). This will likely require a license issued by the local authority, and controlled by the Ministry of Justice (French).

It’s important to note that buying alcohol for or serving or giving alcohol to someone under the age of 16 or to Muslims of any age is not permitted. Please also note that licensed establishments must not have female employees under 21 years of age.

Local authorities may also prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages in certain areas or within a certain distance around religious buildings, cemeteries, military establishments, hospitals, and schools. For example, serving alcohol in street terraces is prohibited.

You should be aware that selling alcohol without the required licenses or without respecting applicable laws and regulations, may amount to a criminal offense for which you may face financial penalties and the possibility of a custodial sentence.

It’s a good idea to consult your local authority or a legal advisor in order to understand the requirements for particular activities that you wish to offer.

For general information about experiences involving alcohol, please see this general information article for experiences involving alcohol. If your experience will involve combining alcohol with another activity (for example, a guided tour of an area), please review our other information articles and consider if any other rules might apply.
