Silver gate is a town of mountains, pines, moose, bears, birds, alpine waters and quiet. Nothing else.

We are a quaint, historic town. Enjoy quiet nature based activities: wildlife, hiking, fishing.

Silver Gate is special. Consider us your simplicity stop. Here you have everything you need and nothing you don’t. Clear sparkling mountain water. Clean and comfortable shelter in an original log cabin. Healthy nourishing meals, crafted with love from ethically sourced foods, most of them local. You will enjoy resources here in greater abundance than most people around the world, who often struggle to survive each day. Discover what’s important. In Silver Gate you find something different: simplicity for the sake of being simple. Nothing more, but always more than enough.

Technology service providers won’t come here, we have no wifi, no cell service. We sometimes don’t have electricity.

These “depravations” point us to higher blessings within ourselves and all around us. Sure, you might miss the cell service and high speed internet, but deep within you know the truth. You don’t need those things, especially not on vacation.

Join us. Rattle your cage, jump out of the box holding you back. it could be your tv, your phone, your computer. Whatever it is, you won’t find it not here.

Here you’ll find another way to freedom through simplicity. You can take a compass bearing in our log box, but it will give you the same reading it gave in 1937, long before the internet or cell. Our accommodations offer visitors an inner sanctuary. We hope to provide you with an escape where you can rest and restore in a quiet haven. Our legacy goes way back: Alvita & Hannah built & managed the Cafe in Silver Gate during its heyday of the 1930s & 40s. They were strong women, hand hacking ice, baking pies from scratch in one heck of a remote location. Wow. Independent women have always played an essential role here, creating our uncommon sense of home. Laurie Hinck now owns the Cafe & Lolo’s Lollypop Shop and the townhouse in Bozeman. Her official employment at the Cafe began as a dishwater at age 15. But from the time she could walk/ski, Laurie began delivering wildflowers here. All her life, she has been spellbound by Cafe magic which manifests in each of our rental properties.
