Enjoy this renovated 1920s back house nestled in the heart of the Fairmount Historic District, a flourishing neighborhood with 100-year-old craftsman homes. We're walking distance to Magnolia Ave, a really neat strip of restaurants, bars, concert venues and shops. Also minutes from downtown, the stockyards, West 7th, museums, hospitals and more!

Fairmount is a lovely community; everyone is invited to enjoy our neighborhood.

El espacio
Downstairs
The kitchenette is equipped for short- to long-term guests depending on your cooking preferences/skills; includes fridge, microwave, hot plate and pan as well as basic dinnerware and utensils. Fry bacon; flip pancakes; sauté veggies; cook burgers. It's a very usable space with an adorable black-and-white-checkered tile floor. The antique cupboard featured immediately upon entering the apartment was purchased at First Monday Trade Days - a 150-year-old flea market in Canton, Texas.

Upstairs
The living area, bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. You'll notice the reclaimed wood ceiling while walking up the stairs; my contractor saved scraps from various projects around the neighborhood for the project, adding who knows how many layers of history to the building.

The queen bed’s dust ruffle is made of huipil fabric found at a market in Antigua, Guatemala. Huipil is the embroidered blouse worn by indigenous women in Guatemala. My mother organizes medical missions teams to the country and has since started collecting and repurposing the beautiful, hand-woven fabrics.

The bathroom vanity, which is conveniently situated outside of the bathroom, is also an antique. The subway-tiled shower is equipped with 3-in-1 shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, and the toilet is low-flow for Mother Earth's sake. Also of note for privacy, the bathroom is considered open air (the walls do not extend all the way the ceiling).

Acceso de los huéspedes
Access through the gated drive, being sure to close the gate behind you. Though she's rarely left alone in the yard, please keep an eye out for my 4-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever Lupe. She's friendly and won't run off, so don't be startled if she's barking. She's just a loud greeter.

Otros aspectos a destacar
We are pet friendly property. A $50 pet fee is assessed per pet. We have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever - Lupe - who shares the property. She is never left unattended in the back yard, and generally we use the front yard for outdoor breaks when the back house is occupied.

Fort Worth, Texas, Estados Unidos

The Fairmount National Historic District is a flourishing neighborhood boasting 100-year-old craftsman homes. We're walking distance to Magnolia Ave, a fabulous strip of restaurants, bars, music and shops - including a glass blowing studio that opens its huge garage-style doors for free demonstrations on nice days. I recommend Heim’s Barbecue for great everything - brisket, sausage, ribs, bacon burnt ends, potato salad, everything (plus one of the best bourbon selections in town; and they do brisket burgers on Monday nights), The Usual for cocktails, Cane Rosso for pizza, and Cannon Chinese Kitchen for ... Chinese.

We're also just minutes from downtown, the stockyards, West 7th, hospitals and pretty much everything Fort Worth offers - including the 40 miles of Trinity Trails - the city's biking/cycling, running/walking trails that are named for the river along which they follow. There are restaurants along the trail, including Tim Love's Woodshed Smokehouse, as well as fishing spots, kayak/canoe launches and playgrounds. And it's not unusual to see folks riding horses. There's a trailhead just 1.5 miles from the house.

Also nearby is the Fort Worth Zoo, rated one of the top five zoos in America in 2017. It's a beautiful 1-mile walk through lovely neighborhoods if by foot is your thing; of course, it's also just a 1-mile drive down the same streets.

Fairmount is a wonderful community; anyone and everyone are invited to visit, enjoy and share our neighborhood.
