Close to EPIC, Madison, Janesville and more, this home offers serene, country living just off the beaten path. There are three indoor spaces listed separately and all the listings have access to a semi-private bathroom. Each space is different.

El espacio
This listing is for Room#1 of 3 - Upstairs bedroom and bathroom listing of my UW-Madison, son's room.

Please consider booking a few days here to unplug from the pressure cooker of city life and just breathe, read a book, take a nap and go for a long walk, down a quiet country road without needing to drive for hours and hours to get there. This is my little slice of Heaven.

Guests may use the kitchen but are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Reduce, reuse, recycle and compost:

Living out in the country means separating your trash from food that is compostable, plastic or metal that is recyclable and paper products that can be burnt.

Recycling:
Plastic and metal items that are recyclable go UNDER THE SINK in the kitchen or in to the RECTANGULAR BINS outside, next to the deck stairs.

Compostable:
Please compost all food items that are NOT dairy or meat. The small, metal canister, on top of the microwave, is for compost as are the black containers located across from the deck stairs and next to the white propane tank.

Burnables:
All paper products are burnable and do not need to go to the landfill. Please deposit them into the GREEN PLASTIC BIN, located in front of the patio door, upstairs.

Trash:
Everything else goes into either the small METAL canister, in front of the patio door, or into the ROUND BINS, located outside, next to the deck stairs.

I am friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I can interact with you as much or as little as you like.

This is my primary residence with 3, indoor, listings while my children are off to college. Their rooms and bathrooms are standing vacant and thus, available to host Air BnB guests. I am not a formal bed and breakfast but I have an amazing location, just off the beaten path, in a peaceful and relaxing environment and have coffee, tea and basic breakfast items included.

I do not have central air conditioning but due to the way the house is situated on the lot, large eves and many windows, the house stays very comfortable. The downstairs has air conditioning. I have a window unit in the main living space that I will turn on if the heat and humidity is high but generally, I do not like having a closed up house during the summer months.

Country life at its best! Close to EPIC and downtown Madison. I have a fenced orchard for dogs to use in front of the house as well as sections of the sheep paddock that can be used by a dog who doesn't know how to jump higher than 4 feet. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pets. I will show you where the appropriate equipment is and where the waste goes for the each type of pet.

If you have brought a cat, you should bring your own litter box. I will show you where to put the bagged up kitty waste as needed. Please call if you have any other questions about my pet policy which is thoroughly described in my house rules.

There is a playground, an outdoor riding arena, and a 6 acre fenced field with a walking path that has a friendly, large mulberry tree at the back of the property with a bench where you can really enjoy the sounds of Nature. There is a small bonfire area in the back for "camping out" visitors. There is no electricity, water or restroom in the back.

There is a front porch for you to greet the rising sun with plenty of space for morning yoga, during the warmer months. It is surrounded by a butterfly garden and feels very private even though it is in front of the house.

Off the back of the house, there is a good sized deck where I often enjoy watching the sun set. There is plenty of seating under the large gazebo. There is plenty of space for yoga on the deck, as well as front of the deck, in the yard.

There are many gardens in various stages of maintenance. In 2014, the family was hit with a series of massive health issues and the gardens were put on the back burner. I am still working to reclaim them and enhance them.

Parking is on either side of the garage, on the gravel as well as up by the barn. If you need handicap parking to get into the upstairs, please park in the spot next to the deck. There is a ramp into the house located there.

Acceso de los huéspedes
The upstairs is accessible through the front or back door. The handicap parking and ramp is off the back of the house for use to get into the upstairs listings for guests with special needs.

Desk, dresser and a section of the closet in upstairs bedroom may be used by guests.

Otros aspectos a destacar
Smoking or Vaping:
I DO NOT allow smoking or vaping in or near any of the buildings on the property, especially the hay - common sense reminds us that many, many things are flammable on a farm. Even the vape pens produce a residue that my daughter and I are highly sensitive to and often triggers our asthma. When the weather is pleasant, I often light a bonfire and enjoy a cold beverage, fireflies and the Milky Way.

Wifi:
I have high speed internet but it is encouraged to check your data limits as it is easy to run over that out here.
Wifi Network: Given upon booking
Wifi Password: Given upon booking

Pet Policy:
Dogs
My pet policy should be clarified. Ahna, my GSD, lives inside. She is respectfully friendly to all other humans, dogs and cats. Every day reinforces her training and ask that all guests please abide by the common cues of OFF, sit, stay, down, come and maintain the acceptable, calm behavior I expect from this wicked smart, loving dog. She sleeps in the master bedroom with me so no guest should feel like they have to interact with any of the fur family.

Please notify me immediately that you will be bringing your own animal. I will need a few items that keeps both of us safe. I need a copy of the current year's vaccinations, brief health history and comfort level with strange animals. All animals must be collared and should be microchipped. Living out in the country means collars fall off and people who see a lost dog, often take them in to help find the owners. Microchipping helps animals find their family quickly.

Basic obedience cues are required in a dog over the age of 1 as is being house trained. Dogs trained to us a pee pad are not allowed as it triggers my cats to "mark" their territory. All dogs must go outside to take care of their needs and you are responsible for providing your own "doggie doo" bags and for cleaning up after your fur baby.

The basic obedience commands include but not limited to off, down, sit, stay and come. Again, this is a health and safety issue as I don't want anyone injured. Healthy, well socialized and trained animals cause few problems.

A crate is required for any dogs or cats if you will be leaving the animal(s) on site while you visit one of the many attractions near us. This protects the house from any accidents as well as protects the animal from getting into something they shouldn't. I have two large dog crates and a small crate that may be rented for $5/night, if you have forgotten yours.

Cats
Cats are welcome too and if you feel your feline family member needs "alone" time, I can make the bathroom that space, although I highly suggest you bring a crate for them in case you need to leave the property without them . My two, black cats rarely come inside during the warm weather but during winter time, they spend most of their time inside but I let them decide.

Horses
If you are traveling with HORSES, please call 2 days in advance so I have a biosecure area for your equines. I could host up to 4 horses. I do require a current Coggins and health certificate from your vet.

Again, another health and safety issue. I want your horses to enjoy their stay and keep everyone healthy. I live on clean well water with a few private turnout/stall options available. You do need to provide your own hay, grain and supplements. There is a 90 x 144 foot outdoor area and a little over 6 acre electric fenced field with a path. A future multi-use park, including horse trails, has been bought by our county with a tentative 2019 date to have trails cleared. My property is about, 100 feet from one of the corners of this park. There are at least 4 vet clinics within minutes of the homestead, several specialists within 50 miles as well as the UW-MADISON Vet School within about 30 min from the farm. Drive time may vary.

There are numerous, quality farriers, chiropractors and body workers that can be scheduled to meet you on site if your horse is in need of additional work. I do charge a $10 booking fee for scheduling these appointments. The sooner you let me know what your needs are, the sooner I can ensure you acquire an appointment with the correct specialist.

There is a $10/night stall fee. The stall fee includes a bedded stall that is cleaned daily and turnout to the outdoor arena or a small paddock near the sheep. This is dependent on the maturity of the horse as well as the weather. I want to keep everyone happy and healthy and not have a horse decide to go through a fence to get at the other horses.

Oregon, Wisconsin, Estados Unidos

The road is about 1.5 miles long and I live in the middle of it. There are only 7 houses on this road and all the neighbors are friendly but tend to keep to themselves. The Oregon community is a friendly, small town, that is pretty safe and fairly boring. There is an amazing coffee shop called The Firefly in downtown Oregon, 5 minutes from my place. I am about 25 minutes from Madison, the UW-Madison and State Street. Travel times may vary. There are so many things to do within 100 miles, I could write a book. If you love the quiet outdoors, this is the place for you.

Hi! I live just outside of the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin, on a small farm. I love the peace and quiet but also love being able to travel quickly and easily to Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago for enjoying big city events. I have a variety of critters typically found on a 1880's homestead but with 21st Century perks like indoor plumbing and wifi. My son now lives in Washington D.C. after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison 2017 and my daughter is attending Iowa State University which means I am an empty-nester most of the year. Time to rent that end of the house out! I am an avid rider and have 1 horse, on the farm, but during the winter, it's all about that snow, 'bout that snow - yes, skiing! I am a retired, professional alpine ski instructor and racing coach. Most of my summer days run at Nature's pace with me trying to be outside as much as possible in the gardens or with the animals. During the school year, I teach and write. Durante tu estadía
I am home most days, all day. I spend most of my time out in the gardens or with the animals. I am between teaching contracts as such, I am around a lot so if you need anything or would like a tour of the farm, just ask.

I can interact with you as much or as little as you desire. I do go to bed pretty early so if you are a night owl, you probably will have the house to yourself. My mornings are pretty slow and quiet too. Things run slow out here. A perfect getaway from the city.
