El espacio
My wife and I purchased the farm in 2015 with hopes of creating a place where we could grow our own food, raise animals, board horses, and just enjoy nature. It all sounded so magical in our heads...(insert 'screeching halt' noise). Little did we know how much work was involved! It's certainly been a labor of love, but slightly more labor than love:) The cottage was already built but was in dire need of a facelift if I was ever going to convince my wife to live there. Well... 9 months after the renovation got underway, our first child was also underway. As much as my wife liked the new cottage, it wasn't passing the "nesting" test. So here we are, sharing our cottage and our farm with the world via Airbnb.

What we hear most often from our guests is how "cozy" it is and how much they enjoy the unique/rustic decor mixed with modern and plentiful amenities. It is far from perfect and a work in progress, but as we've learned, that is the definition of life on a farm.

Acceso de los huéspedes
We consider our guests "Free Range" while on the farm for the most part:) We encourage our guests to explore, ask questions, or even get involved if they'd like. However, we ask that guests do not enter into any enclosed areas that may contain animals without first asking. The winter months are kind of slow, but when the ground is soft we work pretty hard.

Horseback Riding
We've partnered with a couple who owns the horses to offer our guests horseback riding! We offer a trip around the farm which can last anywhere from an hour or more. The hour ride consists of numerous trails that take you all over our entire 70-acre farm. The trails are easy to moderate with a few obstacles including stream crossings and wooden bridges. Our horses are cool-headed and treat their riders pretty good:) This trip is $40/person for the 1st hour and can be set up almost any time with some advanced notice. You can extend your trip for $10/additional 30 minutes. We also offer pony rides for the kids ($25). Let us know if you're interested and we’ll have them saddled up! You will receive a link to book a ride when you book our cottage.

Farm-Raised Beef
We have a freezer full of our own farm-raised beef. We have hamburger, stew meat, steaks, and roasts. Let us know what you're interested in and we will give you a price.

Farm-Raised Chicken
We also have farm-raised chickens (whole birds only) that you can purchase. If you let me know in advance I can have some thawed out for you to cook while you are here. I've had nothing but great feedback and I can attest to the deliciousness of my birds.

Butcher Your Own Chicken
(Late June to Mid July)
New this year, we will be offering guests the opportunity to butcher their own chicken. It’s not for the faint of heart, but for many of our adventurous guests, this will give you a unique experience that truly makes you appreciate where your food comes from. This experience will be $60 per chicken which, of course, includes the chicken for you to cook.

Eggs
Fresh eggs are available just outside your door that you collect yourself. Your 1st dozen is complimentary and $3.50/dozen after that.

Hot Tub
The hot tub has Bluetooth for playing music, and is right outside the back door overlooking our pasture. It’s open all year round but it’s never guaranteed. We try our best to keep it clean and available but sometimes (very seldom) it’s condition is beyond our control.

Gym (Currently closed due to COVID-19)
Our guests also have unlimited access to a 24-hour gym just 4 minutes from the farm. If you're interested, let us know and we will give you the details and have you sign a waiver.

Otros aspectos a destacar
Our well water does contain sulfur and often has a rotten egg odor to it. The intensity varies throughout the year. It is totally safe to shower in and even drink. The water from the fridge is probably better than most bottled water as it has a reverse osmosis system. We are hoping to have a new water treatment system installed later this year (2020).

I have a pretty amazing life that I credit to great people and great opportunities. I have two beautiful kids (a boy and girl) that challenge me every day to grow in ways that hopefully they will benefit from. My wife is everything I've ever hoped for and enhances my life in so many ways. My farm is somewhat of a creative outlet that satisfies my need for balance in life. The endless technological advancements and conveniences that it creates, drive me to find ways to slow down, work hard at times, learn new skills, and enjoy the calm that nature and animals provide.

Durante tu estadía
My family and I live just down the rd from the farm and you will most likely see me around the farm on most days.

You’ll likely see horseback riding going on most days during the summer. The trail starts just behind the cottage and is a highlight for most of our guests.

I normally check the hot tub every morning between 8 am and 10 am.

I like to at least meet all of my guests but I don't normally bug people unless it's something important or I get an invite. Feel free to approach me at any time for any reason though. I sometimes need to run the tractor for various reasons but I try to keep it to a minimum and never too early where I would disturb sleep.
