(2) Nikko Edomura (Edo Wonderland)(33mins Walk/2.7km) is a history theme park recreating Japanese town life during the Edo Period ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). The park is really a small town built in Edo style architecture and populated by townspeople in period costume, and has been used as the setting for period tv dramas. Park guests have the opportunity to dress up as well (costumes can be rented for a fee) and tour the town's historically based shops and museums, participate in games and see live shows and theater.

(3) The Grand Maze Palladium (35mins walk / 2.9km) is a large fence maze located just across the way from Nikko Edomura. To complete this challenging labyrinth you must stamp a card at each of the four towers, one at each corner of the maze, and then find the exit. It takes about 40 minutes to complete on average, and cold drinks are awarded to those that finish in less than 20 minutes. There are no bathrooms or vending machines once inside the maze.

(4) The Kinugawa Line Kudari River Cruise ( 23 mins by walk and train) is a ride down Kinugawa River in flat bottomed, wooden boats. Humorous explanations are provided by the boatmen in Japanese. Shoes are removed on board of the boats.

【UNESCO World Heritage】
Toshogu Shrine (東照宮, Tōshōgū)(40mins by train) is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868. Ieyasu is enshrined at Toshogu as the deity Tosho Daigongen, "Great Deity of the East Shining Light". Initially a relatively simple mausoleum, Toshogu was enlarged into the spectacular complex seen today by Ieyasu's grandson Iemitsu during the first half of the 1600s.
The lavishly decorated shrine complex consists of more than a dozen buildings set in a beautiful forest. Countless wood carvings and large amounts of gold leaf were used to decorate the buildings in a way not seen elsewhere in Japan, where simplicity has been traditionally stressed in shrine architecture. Visitors may note that Toshogu contains both Shinto and Buddhist elements. It was common for places of worship to contain elements of both religions until the Meiji Period when Shinto was deliberately separated from Buddhism. Across the country, Buddhist elements were removed from shrines and vice versa, but at Toshogu the two religions were so intermingled that the separation was not carried out completely.

Other picturesque locations such as Chuzenji Lake, Kegon Falls, and Mt. Nantai draw visitors year after year. Looking down from the summit of Mt. Maruyama, the Kinu River Valley is a moving view no matter the season of your visit.
