PLEASE NOTE: We do not allow any visitors that are not on the booking. You must wear a mask outside your wing.

This bright 180 square foot bedroom is tucked away in a quiet west corner on the second story of our home. Your bathroom, coffee machine, and closet are in the hall outside your room.

One potential downside is that the room runs warm on hot days due to poor AC circulation in this area, so you must be heat tolerant on warm days. In winter you may control heat flow in your radiator.

El espacio
Our home is a quiet, calm, and clean oasis for your hosts (Erin and Jason) and for our approved guests. We ask that you leave your socializing and partying elsewhere.

Our house was built in 1896 for the founder of one of Norfolk's shipyards. Since then, the house has been well cared for and upgraded in stages to preserve its historic beauty. The house is three stories tall, and very long from front to back. We are still working on updating parts of the house while preserving original features. The second story is partly yours (bedroom, bathroom, and closet), and partly residential. You have a privacy curtain in the hall that conceals your bedroom, bathroom, and coffee station from the rest of the house.

We provide our guests with filtered drinking water in sanitized bottles, as well as tea and locally roasted coffee. Following sanitation guidelines, we will clean and refill your coffee station at your request when you are out of the house.

Acceso de los huéspedes
Due to the current state of Covid-19, we have closed our common shared areas to minimize contact between guests and ourselves. The second story living room and laundry room are closed to all guests. We ask you not to dwell on the first floor, though we will wave and say a quick hi if we see you in passing! We have placed a coffee station in the hall outside your room for your convenience and we will clean and reset the station upon your request, when you are out. We will sanitize the surfaces that we touch.

Otros aspectos a destacar
This is a very old house! We are very fortunate that it has been well taken care of over the last 100+ years, but that does mean that it does have some quirks. The floor boards are old, so they do squeak when you walk (don't worry, this won't bother us!)

Your access to the house is through the double glass front doors. We use the back patio door for our personal access. You are welcome to store shoes under the bench next to the front door. Please feel free to use the umbrellas provided!

We live in a historic residential neighborhood that is filled with natural beauty including old, large trees, nearby waterways, gardens, and plenty of bird watching. There is a lively community without too much noise and bustle. We are in walking distance to several cafes, restaurants, shops, and many gorgeous houses to admire as you visit the neighborhood. We are very close to Sentara hospital and Eastern Virginia Medical School. We are also within walking distance of the lovely Chrysler Art Museum.

My name is Erin, and I host with my husband, Jason. Hospitality is a passion for us! We have been Airbnb hosts for two years, and we are currently in the process of opening a wine bar and inn in the nearby neighborhood of Chelsea. It's called Grandiflora Wine Garden! We are a traveling couple who recently purchased our beautiful home in the historic district of Ghent, Norfolk. We spent nearly a decade living and hiking around Washington state before moving back to Virginia to be close to family. Our passions include world travel, spending time in nature, reading, meeting other travelers, and serving (and tasting) tea, coffee, and wine. We are proud to share our beautiful 100 + year old, 3-story massive house in one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in coastal Virginia. Much our time is spent putting lots of love and energy into updating and continually beautifying this beloved home so that we can invite travelers to visit with us and experience a unique, quiet, yet vibrant neighborhood lined with old oaks and filled with gorgeous historic houses.
