~Vermont extended its State of Emergency until September 15th. Coming from out of state you would be required to quarantine here for two weeks. Within that two weeks IF you get a PCR test soon after your arrival that shows you are negative for Covid-19 you can then go anywhere as long as you wear a mask. I must get a copy of that “negative test” letter and keep it on file. I believe The only variance to that is to have proof of a negative test a few days before your arrival in Vermont. Yes that’s a lot of hoops but we are the safest state in the union.~

I'm Retired, but I still enjoy rehabbing historic houses, watching birds and gardening. When rehabbing I try to reuse as much of the original materials as possible even if it costs me more in time and effort. I also reuse materials recovered from other old homes purchased from several "architectural salvage" stores in our state; keeping historic materials out of the landfill is important to me. My small yard with organic perennial gardens and mature trees is a nurturing environment for pollinators and birds. I, like most of the rest of the world, believe in removing my shoes upon entering someone's home. It's a matter of respect as well as health and allergen awareness. I'm a stickler about recycling, composting and protecting our environment for our children and grandchildren. My family arrived in America from Belstone England in 1638 joining the already established Plimouth (the "i" was later changed to "y") Colony. In 1640 George Blisse, my direct descendant, was granted 1.5 acres in Sandwich MA. By 1649 the Blisses were living in Newport RI and owned a blacksmith business. During the Revolution two of the brothers battled the British attack on New Bedford. Later the family farm in Newport was occupied by British officers when they took Newport. One night the Bliss women tore down and shredded the British Union Flag and then ran it back up the pole. Later descendants lived in New Bedford MA during the whaling heyday; then Brookline and Winthrop near Boston where they were founding members of the Winthrop Yacht Club (upper "middle sort" not wealthy). In 1898 a Bliss won an engraved beer stein for placing second in the Yacht Club's rowing competition. The stein is a shared family "heirloom."
