El espacio
This space is unique in that it provides a peace of mind in the country (5 miles off of 319) while also being so close to the beaches at Bald Point, Alligator Point, Mashes Sands or St. George Island and only a short distance from the Florida Capital as well as FSU and FAMI. The surrounding nature provides breathtaking sunrises and the sound of wildlife, simply takes you away from the busy city life. The hosts encourage guests to inquire about taking fresh eggs home, pears, grapes, blueberries and figs, let’s not forget the fresh oranges and limes - all based on the season. The Farm house style Studio has its own private entrance with 500 square feet including a queen size bed, oversized chaise lounger for sitting area, full length antique mirror, writing desk area, bathroom with single sink and vanity area with a large shower and closet space. It is a second floor unit so there are stairs leading up to the studio. Acceso de los huéspedes
As you drive down Cheri Lane, you will veer to the right and follow the gravel driveway straight back. The Pole Barn is located back on the right, and the main house is located on the left. Guests parking is reserved on the right side of the carport at the main house, as well as any space designated as parking.

There is a private entrance with a keyless entry lock and is located within 5 feet of where you park, all covered under the carport.

Individuals may access all 22 acres of the property to enjoy nature at its finest. Apalachicola National Forest right across the street so plenty of walking trails for hiking and bike trails that take you to coastal communities. You may pick fruit from the pear, orange and fig trees, blueberry bushes and grape vines, if in season. When we have our gardens planted, we even share fresh vegatables such as okra, tomatoes and squash. Don’t forget to take some fresh eggs with you when you leave. 🐔🍳🥚🐓

Enjoy access to both picnic tables, one located to the far north side of the main house under the only carport left standing from the original 1847 Whaley homestead. All the limestone and bricks used in the backyard landscaping come from the original fireplace located within the 1847 homestead. Photos of the original homestead, property as well as various wildlife are showcased within the studio unit.

Otros aspectos a destacar
The entire house is connected to a fully powered back up Generax generator that will automatically kick on if the power goes out. No need to be in the dark, unless it is your preference.

We are located approximately 25miles south of Tallahassee across the street from the heart of the Apalachicola National Forest. St George Island is a 45 minute short drive along a coastal road with an amazing view. St Marks, Spring Creek, Bald Point, Shell Point and Alligator Point are 10-15 minute drive.

Home is built on a 1847 homestead site with many of the original windows and doors incorporated with the house decor. Additionally, articles found on the property are displayed within the home itself, including an 1898 Dry Goods receipt book.

We know the area as my husband was born and raised in the Sopchoppy Panacea area. He knows all the local restaurant owners and has family that is part of the crab and fishing community of Panacea - so we can direct you where to go for the freshest seafood around. You will have a choice to dine over the water, near the water or where everyone knows everyone else’s name!

The coast is within 6 miles from our home, and the local beaches another 10-15 minutes, located at Shell Point, Mashes Sands and Bald Point. Venture an hour and travel along Coastal 98 to Apalachicola for great restaurants and coastal shopping or to St. George Island for gorgeous white beaches.

If you have a boat, travel the many rivers located within minutes from our home. We can direct you to the best landings and give you advice on where to go. Visit Wakulla State Park and enjoy 67degree water that has a host of wildlife, including manatees and alligators. Here you will find an old Lodge - hotel a with a fabulous restaurant and old ice cream shop within. Read up on the history of Edward G. Ball and Wakulla. You can also take a short boat ride for a small fee around the park and witness a number of species of birds as well as being able to see our manatees.

If you want to golf, we have Wildwood which is 10 minutes from the house or St James Bay which is 30 minutes from the house.

Wakulla County also has miles of paved walking/cycling trails and miles of walking and hiking trails.

We also can provide some beach essentials such as beach towels, chairs, umbrella, and more.

If you need to use the washer and dryer in the main house, let us know and we will make the necessary arrangements. Additionally, we are also open to the use of our kitchen in the main house - again, let us know in advance so we can plan ahead.
