Tiny footprint travellers just love this modern living space with sunny position and simple pleasures. Just a short walk to lake reserve, close to bike trail, just a few minutes to shops. Perfect for chill-axing between missions into Fiordland National Park. The South West NZ World Heritage Area is almost on YOUR doorstep here: make sure you stay at least two full days to enjoy a sample of what the region has to offer!

I live nearby and if you need assistance.

El espacio
This bespoke tiny house was designed in 2015 by a young couple who know how little house is needed for a really good life. Takahē Nest was built by a tradesman who lives a block away, exquisitely finished in 2016.

The Takahē Nest is named after a rare flightless bird that was thought extinct 100 years ago but was rediscovered in small numbers in the mountains you can see from your kitchen & living space. Although "techni-coloured turkey" in adult appearance, the Takahē chicks are jet black.

Social impact statement = You enable us to triple-bottom line towards sustainability by sponsoring Takahē and many local social causes too.

We are fastidious cleaners and offer a buffer before and after your booking to ensure your stay can easily extend if required.

Acceso de los huéspedes
The Takahē Nest is all yours for the duration of your stay, includes frisbees & petanque boules for playing on the lawn.

Otros aspectos a destacar
As a single working parent I truly appreciate any efforts you can make to ensure the Takahē Nest is maintained to the standard you would like to find it as a new guest, kia ora.

Cupboards are stocked to provide hospitality and earthquake resilience (manaakitanga e kaitiakitanga).

IF YOU USE food or ingredients from cupboards please replace under ‘KOHA' system - give just a little more than what you are grateful for using so next Takahē Nest resident can enjoy your kindness too

Wifi for guests is free but limited by our village's remoteness in comparison to international city destinations

Ubicación

Te Anau, Southland, Nueva Zelanda

This area was a verdant green pasture a few years ago, the oyster catchers, skylarks, plovers and ducks which still live here don't seem to mind the new houses! It's a growing neighbourhood which attracts like minded people to the area. Young families, retired farmers and modern professionals are establishing themselves in this new part of the lakeside township.
