This cosy cottage is all about the location on the beautiful Mawddach Estuary in Snowdonia National Park, near seaside Barmouth and historic Dolgellau. Small Barn is spacious with direct access to the Mawddach Estuary Trail.

Zipworld and the mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin are within easy reach. You can hike up Cader Idris mountain on our doorstep or Snowdon is less than an hour's drive.

El espacio
The pet-friendly cottage is part of a converted Victorian slate cutting shed. There are 4 self contained cottages sharing the same massive Welsh slate roof as our quiet B & B. The building adjoins our small, award winning camping and glamping site.

Open the front door and step into the large sun room with Mawddach Estuary views. Make yourself at home in the spacious open plan lounge/kitchen. There are two big comfy sofas in here and large TV with DVD player. The kitchen has a dining table with 6 chairs and there is a cooker and electric hob, microwave, fridge /freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and sink. There is plenty of crockery, pots and pans etc including a cafetière.

Go up the stairs and you will find a bathroom on the left with a large bath and good overhead shower. The two bedrooms are next to each other. The first has a double bed . The bed is under a Velux window in this room. The second bedroom has two singles beds and a window overlooking woodland.

A high chair and travel cot can be provided on request.

Our amazing location in Snowdonia National Park is a perfect base for family adventures and those seeking unspoilt scenery and food for the soul. Close to the coast and mountains with castles, steam trains and ancient market towns to explore, your holiday can be action packed or as laid back as you like. You can walk from the door of our attractive holiday cottage and through our wild woods and meadows onto the beautiful Mawddach Estuary Trail. The 9 mile traffic-free trail links seaside Barmouth and the historic market town of Dolgellau. It’s a magical location for cyclists, walkers, photographers and wildlife-watchers.

Acceso de los huéspedes
The house is self-contained, and guests can also access our woods and meadows. There is an enclosed decking area with outdoor furniture. Nearby in the woods for a communal camp fire you are welcome to use. We sell logs.

Our holiday accommodation in Snowdonia National Park is at the heart of adventure activities and historic attractions for families and thrill seekers. You can climb Cader Idris (Snowdon is an hour's drive) go horse-riding on sandy beaches, mountain biking at Coed-y Brenin, whitewater rafting, or zip lining across slate quarries. Take the kids crabbing and climb castle walls. Wander for hours in our quiet corner of Snowdonia with just mountains, sky and sheep for company or take a steam train up Snowdon and join the crowds at the summit. Wild swimming spots, RSPB reserves, gorge scrambling, wildlife safaris, geocaching – Snowdonia National Park and North / Mid Wales offer all sorts of memorable experiences within easy reach of Graig Wen.

Dolgellau (pronounced Dol-geth-lie) is an attractive market town 5 miles from Graig Wen. Here you’ll find excellent independent shops, a monthly farmer’s market (every 3rd Sunday) plus a range of both traditional and modern cafes, restaurants and pubs. There are two restaurants featured in the 2016 Michelin Guide within 10 minutes drive of Graig Wen. Foodies can also buy direct from producers at the farm gate and should make a date with nearby Machynlleth’s Wednesday market and stylish craft shops.
Barmouth has seaside fun in buckets and spades. The huge sandy beach is clean and safe for bathing. There’s plenty of sand and dunes for both families and dog walkers to explore whether the tide is in or out, winter or summer. It’s the place for fish and chips, shopping for beach gear and crabbing off the quay. You can walk across Barmouth’s iconic railway viaduct from our side of the Mawddach Estuary or drive around across the rickety toll bridge in about 20 minutes.
Fairbourne is a small beach village 5 minutes drive from Graig Wen. There’s a good butchers, a deli, corner shops and a nice beach bar. The Fairbourne steam railway runs along the safe beach which is a mixture of sand and shingle. Great for body boarding and dog walking year round.

John and Sarah escaped to the country and have lived at Graig Wen since 2007. We welcome guests to our home and campsite which we share with our dogs Gracie and Bryn, a feisty cat and some chickens. We love getting out on our bikes and exploring our special part of Wales.
