Looking for a combination of tranquility and green space within walking distance to eclectic cafes, restaurants, breweries, boutique shops, and the downtown waterfront?

The Old City Oasis Guest House is 'planted' on the hill in Nanaimo's historic Old City, providing easy access to VIU, bus stops, hiking and MTB trails, beaches, parks, and more.

Featuring ample street parking, as well as a nicely landscaped southwest facing outdoor patio where you can unwind with your beverage of choice.

El espacio
The Guest House can accommodate up to four guests with comfortable sleeping arrangements, it includes a 3 piece bathroom with shower (it uses a small hot water tank, so hot water conservation is required when multiple hot back-to-back showers are desired - currently the shower is capable of about 10 minutes of continuous hot water before it needs time to reheat), a well equipped food & beverage prep area (no kitchen sink or stove), and ample gear and clothing storage. Also included is a spot for secure indoor bike storage and a bike washing area to get your MTB all rinsed off after a hard ride.

Included in the unit is one semi-private bedroom with queen size memory foam bed. This room has an open doorway and large window through to the main living area. The living/lounging area features a comfortable sectional sofa with built-in memory foam pull out bed, and a 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart TV with Netflix and Spotify access. The prep area features a mini-fridge with freezer, compact microwave, toaster, tea pot, french press, electric coffee maker, and a selection of dishware and utensils.

The floor of the entire space is concrete, which helps to moderate the temperature of the unit during the hot summer months. The drawback is that the floor can feel cold on bare feet, so we recommend that guests bring slippers or socks.

Outside you will find a partially private patio area surrounded by trees and lush vegetation which experiences several hours of direct sunlight on clear summer days.

*** Please keep in mind the unit is pet friendly, and we do have a very friendly 3 year old Chocolate Lab that lives with us on the property. Her name is Teva (tay-vah) and she gets very excited to meet new people. Due to these facts, the unit is not appropriate for anyone with a dog allergy.***

Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canadá

Our section of the Nanaimo Old City neighborhood is perched along a gradual hillside overlooking the downtown Nanaimo harbour. On clear days, this area provides optimal vantage points to view the downtown architecture among the ocean, gulf islands, and snow capped mountains.

A short 10 min stroll toward town will find you in Old City Quarter - a vibrant mix of boutiques, specialty shops, and some of Nanaimo’s top restaurants. A further 5 min walk and you’ll be in the heart of downtown at Commercial Street where you’ll come across yet more boutique shops, bakeries, and excellent restaurants. One more 5 min jaunt will bring you to the water's edge at Nanaimo’s Harbourfront Walkway where you can explore over 1 km of oceanfront, or board a passenger ferry to visit Newcastle Island Provincial Park. On the other side of the downtown core, you will find grocery stores, fast food, and the ferry terminal for the 25 min ferry ride to the artistic and crafty island community of Gabriola Island.

We moved to Nanaimo in 2018, and have fallen in love with many of the great things Nanaimo and the surrounding area has to offer. We love the local community and are always excited to share our favourite spots, including a few gems only the locals know :) We both love to travel any chance we get, and Airbnb has been the go to resource for our accommodation needs. We are both passionate about health and fitness, enjoy cooking extravagant meals, and have a love for dogs. The third member of our clan is named Teva, she is the happiest and friendliest young Chocolate Lab you'll ever meet. Ryan is a Mechanical Engineering Technologist who loves to design and create, as well as partake in all kinds of sports including ice hockey, snowboarding, mountain biking, and many more. Anna is a Commercial Banking Relationship Manager who loves to spend time in the outdoors, and also stays active through hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, dancing flamenco, and volunteering in the community.
