The 2-rooms ground floor loft (46 m2) with 3 doublebeds is located on a quiet street, 3 min on foot away (325 m) from the next subway station. Extravagant and unusual space! Direct line brings you in 10 min to the center of West Berlin (Zoo), the way to the center of East Berlin (Alexanderplatz) is about 30 min. Very authentic district. Host lives in the next apt and is available.

§ (1) ABOUT THE LOFT (1)

Berlin has a fame of "cool city", "city of freedom", "exceptional city, which deserves undivided attention". It´s not that sophisticated as Paris and not so posh as London, but the city also has its own taste and colours, which you´ll never confuse. And as the loft is located in the heart of the most contradictive and freaky district of West Berlin, which is being gentrificated, completely rebuilt and changes its face every year, I decided to create a loft, which would correspond the surrounding. So in this loft I tried to create something really cool & extraordinary, not just to convert a former stinky and abandoned backery into a residential space, but into a place with its own unrepeatable charm. Nevertheless it has everything what a classic loft should have: industrial history, almost 4 meters high ceilings and huge windows.

That´s why this loft has a special target audience: it´s a place for modern and arty groups of travelers, who know what "coolness" means! Especially families with kids, honeymoon couples and just travellers, who would like to experience something new, are welcome here! That would be also a great choice for those of you, who would like to stay in an unusual place with an absolutely unique atmosphere, who don´t chase comfort, but need mostly cool design and stylish ideas.

It´s a place for those of you who is ready to pay for:
+ coolness of real Berlin & creative solutions in design
+ easy accessibility of West Berlin center (325 m to the next subway station)
+ the opportunity to stay together in one space with family members
+ cleanliness

The loft has its own charming history: it used to be a small local backery, famous for its fresh croissants in the whole neighborhood. But life didn´t give any chances to this small enterprise and it was closed at the beginning of the XXI. century. More than 10 years the space was empty and nobody was interested in investing much money into renovation or developing a modern backery on a small square. A couple of years ago I decided to take this place and convert it into a stunning loft. Despite more than 100 years of "backing history" I didn´t leave any recollection about the intended use of this place. The idea was to transform it as dramatically as possible, so that nobody can even guess what was here before.

The loft consists of 2 separate rooms: the bedroom and the living room with a kitchen corner.
Both rooms are designed in calm warm colours: bedroom - red/black/white; living room - beige, brown and terracota.

In the BEDROOM you´ll find a doublebed (fullsize; 140x200), a big wardrobe, a couple of night tables and a huge arm-chair. As the loft is situated on the ground floor, I tried to put everywhere as many carpets as possible - don´t care about cold feet. One of the walls is decorated with a handpainted tattoo and installation with Venetian carnival mask, which are the eyecatchers in the loft.

The LIVING ROOM was planed to be a place for chilling and dining. It has 2 main zones: a kitchen zone and a sleeping zone, which are splited by a huge table for 6 persons. The kitchen zone is just a small corner, which is not really suitable for real cocking: it´s equipped by washing-mashine, stove, fridge with freezer, filtered-coffee mashine, cattle, toaster and microvawe. Please, don´t expect a top-kitchen from "Vanity Fair", coz it´s not quite neccessary in the city, where you can have a dinner for 10€. The sleeping zone in the living room is determined by a huge double-bunk bed, which is a work of a talented carpenter. It consists of 2 levels: the upper level is in fact a king-size bed (160x200), where 2 adults would feel absolutely comfortable. The access to that level is provided via staired wardrobe. The lower level is actually a sofabed: it can be used as a sofa for chilling or be pulled out and then transforms into a full-sized doublebed (140x200). It should be pointed out, that I always put an extra real mattress on it, so that the guests can sleep "not on the couch", but on the real bed.

The BATHROOM was renovated 2018 and got an absoluetly new modern look. So the square of the bathroom is quite limited and besides WC itself, there´s only a shower сabin and a wash basin here.

A) Party-guests are NOT WELCOME here! Please, do not celebrate anything or listen to the music here. The sound isolation of this house unfortunatelly reflects its 120 years old history. Please, keep in mind, that the host is your neighbors in the house... We do not make any exceptions :)

B) The loft is situated on the GROUND FLOOR. This means, that you are directly on the street, when you open the door. The door has a special construction: it´s absolutely safe and can´t be opened from the street without the key - so nobody can disturb you, when you are inside. It´s an absolutely quiet sidestreet, where nothing happens, but still can be overwhelming for people from small towns or living in the countryside, who are not used to the city noise in the background. For that reason it won´t be suitable for those of you, who would like to sleep till midday!

C) Although there´re 6 SLEEPING PLACES in the loft, please, note, that it has only 2 rooms and only 46 m2, so it would be suitable for couples, a family with kids or a company of friends, who would only need a place to sleep for 1-2 nights and would be OK to be altogether in the same space. Just pay attention on the scale: there´re NO 2 bedrooms and 1 living-room, there´re only 2 rooms!

D) It´s not the best location for those of you, who would like to discover classic sights. Many people say, this neighbourhood is "far from everything". In fact it´s far from East Berlin, which many tourists understand as city center (Alexanderplatz). It´ll take you about 30 minutes to get to Alexanderplatz and East Berlin itself and there´s no direct way. But you shouldn´t forget, that Berlin is not a little village. There´re neighbourhoods, where you would need at least an hour by underground to get to Alexanderplatz. Moreover the center of West Berlin - Zoo and Kurfürstendamm - are just 5 undeground stops away from the loft. So it´s not that bad, in my opinion, but I understand those people, who would like to see Brandenburg Gate from the window. I would wish it too! :)

+ Towels and bed linen (1 person - 1 towel, if you stay longer, than 1 week you get more)
+ WiFi (25 Mbit/s)
+ Washing mashine
+ Hairdryer
+ Iron with ironing board
+ Dish washer
+ TV with huge screen

- Good sound isolation
- Good kitchen
- Climate control (Under climate control I understand the "magic" system, which maintains the constant temperature independently on the season: when it´s too cold, it heats up the space, and when it´s too hot - cools down. So there´s no climate control in the loft).

But of course there´s a conventional heating system, which is a constructing standard in Germany. This means you can not build a house without heating by law. The heating can only heat up the space, but can not cool it down, if it´s too hot)

§ (2) ABOUT ME (2)

As I´m a hard-working person and a mum of 2 kids at the same time, in many cases I won´t be able to meet you personally. But I always arrange a solution and in 99% cases we have self check-in. In case of any difficulties there´s always someone, who takes care of you.
You can always reach me under the number given in the confirmation email (which you get after the reservation) or leave me a message via airbnb.

§ (3) PARKING (3)

Parking along the street is absolutely free of charge. You can leave your car at every available parking spot. If there´re no parking places along the street, please, drive to the end of the street, where a long embankment is located. Here you´ll definitely find a place to park.

The loft is situated in Wedding - it´s the name of the district, which administratively belongs to "Mitte" - citycenter from German language. But it´s a kind of further coner of "Mitte". It´s regarded to be a cool neighbourhood in the recent times. It´s an old industrial district with a lot of nice buildings from the beginning of the XX. century.
It´s not a touristic place at all and there´re actually no sights nearby, but it´s quite popular among the local inhabbitants of Berlin and is famous for it´s atmosphere of freedom and multiculturalism. It is also one of the poorest areas in Berlin with a high unemployment rate and a lot of people living below the poverty line. But it doesn´t automatically mean, that the district is unsafe or dangerous!!! It´s just not fancy and is inhabbitated with "easy" people. It also offers low rent and a very good infrastructure. It´s symbol is a variety of different restaurants (Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Turkish, Arabian), shopping malls and supermarkets. Wedding provides an unforgettable multicultural flair, which in the future will attract more and more people to move here.

The best description of this neighbourhood, which I ever met, was written by a Canadian artist Joseph Pearson, who moved to Berlin a couple of years ago, so I would like to quote him: "If you’ve been reading the German blogs on gentrification in Berlin, the Wedding is the neighborhood that is mentioned most often. ‘Gentrification pioneers’ are coming in, bringing up rents, and this is already part of local public debates organised by a Rental-initiative group. There’s plenty to hint that there is change in the air here. There’s a mix of attractive Altbau ‘Classikers’ - rambling old -world apartments which fetch ever-increasing prices with their dwindling market in Berlin – with Neubau social housing of often low-income immigrants. There’s the telltale sign of a new Bioladen (organic food shop), with a group of yummy mummies sipping Italian coffee outside, near a couple of new funky cafés. (I’m always a little taken aback that the signs of encroaching gentrification are also the same ones which might make the neighbourhood a nicer place for young and arty people to live). There’s also the fact that there’s a big hospital complex nearby, and soon the German Intelligence agency offices (the BND) will open a few stations away on the U6 line – with 2000 new employees transferred here from Southern Germany looking for a leafy place to live.
You follow the main axis Torfstraße from the U-Bahn station to the canal and pass many African goods stores, and an African media bookshop and community centre. The neighbourhood is incredibly diverse: there’s also a Pakistani dry goods store, and (apparently very good) Korean (Shikgoo) and Indian (Naveena Path) canteens. When you get to the canal there are some pretty café terraces (of Fünf und Sechzig, the oldtimer Deichgraf, or Auszeit with its vintage chic). Down Triftstraße, in a lot hidden behind some high-rise housing, where we hear the sounds of someone practicing a Chopin Étude, there are some shabby stairs leading into a basement. There is located a remarkable and hidden microbrewery called Hausbrauerei Eschenbräu, one of those unexpected and hidden places that might wow your visitors with your local knowledge of Berlin.
But the impression of the Wedding is ultimately a little like that of the canal it looks over which is shaggy, unkempt, and dotted with industrial installations. The charm is: patchy, rough and unfinished. Acquaintances who live here describe it to me as: ‘a quiet place to come home to’ or ‘a little bit on the edge with a fast train’. It’s true you can be at Zoo station in 7 minutes flat by U-Bahn, or in Mitte by bike in not that much more time. But the Wedding has the feeling of an island, a slightly forlorn separateness, which it shares with so much of exposed and ramshackle Kreuzberg. And hopefully it’s precisely this patina of degradation, which overlays the diversity and hidden fascinations of this vast area of former West Berlin, which will keep the arriviste surgeons and spies at bay for just a little bit longer".
