Everything you need in this stylish newly remodeled one bedroom, one bath apartment, located in the quiet downtown of Iona. It's a private oasis for both business and family travel. Placed across the street from the city park, that features a walking path, tennis and basketball courts, and a children's playground. Just 6 miles north-east of Idaho Falls, its also close to Highways 20, 26 and I-15. This unique space features a self-check-in key pad, large kitchen and plenty of room to relax.

Our unique space is 6 miles to the east of Idaho Falls (Just 3 miles from the new Costco) 5 miles north east of Ammon, 7 miles from the Idaho National Lab (Idaho falls office) 5 miles away from CEI (College of Eastern Idaho) 25 miles to the south of BYUI, 76 Miles from Grand Teton resort (and world class snowboarding and skiing), 105 miles away from Yellowstone National Park and 84 miles from Jackson Wyoming. You can find many places to hike, bike, kayak and fish just minutes from the apartment. Some of our favorites include, Swan Valley, Heise, Ashton, Ririe Reservoir and Island park.

More information on the Apartment itself;

Our Apartment/Suite is connected to one of the oldest structures in Iona. The original Merc Building was built in 1897. It was one of the first commercial buildings in Iona, and is older than many of the buildings in Idaho falls. Settlers to the area came from miles around to the Merc to purchase everything from clothing to candles, and blankets to pickles. The attached wing, where the apartment is, has been a butcher shop, a pizza parlor, a hair salon and for several years it housed a medical software support company. In 2018 our son was looking for a place to live (after landing a new job) and we suggested maybe remodeling the vacant office space into an apartment. A place he and his wife could live in until they could find a home. We thought it would take 6 months to remodel, but it ended up taking an entire year.(Of course) It was a labor of love however, and we got to spend lots of time with our son and daughter-in-law while we worked on the space.

We removed the office type ceiling tiles and brought the ceiling back up to the original 12+ foot height. One of our favorite features in the apartment is the moldings around that beautiful ceiling. It took several weeks to remove the ceramic tile from the floors and level them out, but the new Laminate wood floor is beautiful. The cabinets in the kitchen/bathroom were built locally and we think the black walnut really grounds the space and adds a lot of style to the apartment. The space is unique in the fact that it's a parallelogram. You will notice in the bedroom that the wall near the window is not square to the room. We decided not to square it up as we did in the Living room, but to just keep the extra room in the bedroom. Most older buildings have character to them and ours is no different. The desk and chair in the bedroom were purchased at a local antique store, they are original arts and craft style and we think the new dresser just adds to that arts and craft vibe.

Our son lived in the apartment for a year before finding a house in Idaho falls. At that point we decided to list it on Airbnb. He was happy to have a new home, but sad to leave the apartment, he’d put so much time and energy into the remodel. We truly love how it all came together, and we hope you will too.

Feel free to hang out in the park like space behind the apartment. We are hoping to make some improvements there eventually, (fire-pit, fencing, patio seating, etc) but for now enjoy the large lawn and shade from the big elm trees.

Our neighborhood is unique. It is an old-time downtown. Across the street is the Stanger Memorial building, it was the very first school and church in the area. It is currently owned by the Bonneville Art Association and can be rented out for parties and receptions.

Next to the apartment is an auto repair shop. Across the street from that you will find a local butcher (local beef and pork sold there) and the post office. The city park and the City building/Library aren't far either, just down the street. There is a walking path at the park as well as a tennis court and a basketball court. There is playground equipment for kids that include a swing and a slide. There are also a couple of shelters at the park that can be reserved by the city if you are wanting to host a party during your stay.
