This gorgeous cottage is only 100 yards away from the Caribbean sea nestled in the tropical trees, overlooking beautiful Toucari Beach. Swim, snorkel or paddleboard in the calm waters. Chill on the bay, with a drink and relax watching the pelicans dive at sunset. Treetops has the best location. Close enough to wander down to the beach and quiet enough to be private. Experience the joy of sitting on the deck and watching hummingbirds in the trees, or capturing the amazing sunsets.

El espacio
Treetops is a Caribbean style timber house newly built with open-plan living and surrounded by nature, with an amazing view of the Caribbean sea. Inside the open space feels light and airy with a high ceiling lots of shutters and doors and fans allowing the breeze though to keep the cottage cool. Outside the roofed deck gives you space to relax or dine with a beautiful sea view. The lush tropical trees surround you with nature and give you a feeling of seclusion. The deck is perfect to watch the birds and overlook the pelicans in the bay diving for fish. Every morning you wake in the four poster bed to watch the sailing boats cross the bay on their way to Guadeloupe. Nestled high in the trees you have an amazing view of Toucari bay. The cottage overlooks a sweeping canopy of almond and palm trees down to the coastline just 100 metres away. In the evening you can relax and watch the sunset and then later open the awning on the balcony to star gaze in the night sky. As you can imagine it is a very special place to stay.
Treetops sleeps 2 guests in an open plan area with 2 ceiling fans The cottage is new and designed in the Caribbean style which feels fresh and bright. The four poster bed is queen-size with a ceiling fan above. Doors and shutters open out onto the deck and balcony with spectacular views of the sea and rainforest landscape. The bed has a quality mattress, quality bedding and draped mosquito nets. The seating area has a comfortable couch and coffee table.
The bathroom is so cute. The shower cubicle is built of wood and feels like you are in a rainforest spa. You have the option of instant hot shower or a cold rain shower, and even have slats to overlook the rainforest as you shower. Truly a relaxing space.
The kitchen is well equipped and beautifully built locally with mahogany worktops. It has a stove, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle and all the glassware, crockery and cookware needed for your stay. Even standing at the sink you have a wonderful view of the bay.

Acceso de los huéspedes
An outside deck is a recent addition. Outside we have a table and chairs nestled amongst the trees for you to relax or enjoy dinner beneath the stars.

PLACES TO VISIT LOCALLY
There are numerous places to visit in the North. Cabrits National Park and historic Fort Shirley is well worth a visit, and less than 10 minutes drive. Being rowed down Indian river through the mangroves is a must and feels like you are travelling back in time. The guides will give you lots of information about the wildlife and local history even point out where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. A trip to Syndicate Trail to see the parrots and wander through the rainforest on a maintained track. There are numerous waterfalls and bathing pools at Milton Falls, Chaudierre pool, Lapluy Falls and Lamothe River Falls, or visit the volcano at Cold Soufriere. The nearest beach is Toucari with its reef snorkelling or the islands largest beach at Purple Turtle with the picturesque anchored yachts. We even have horse-back riding, kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailing, and more, all within walking distance or a short drive away. Caso does a great local boat trip in Toucari bay and offers other trips to local sites.

Toucari, St John Parish, Dominica

Toucari has the advantage of being far enough away for peace and quiet but close enough to Toucari bay beach, and only 10 minutes from Portsmouth town. We are lucky to have a couple of restaurants and bars. The popular "Keepin it Real" restaurant/bar is only 100 metres away. 10-15 minutes drive takes you to more restaurants and bars and grocery shopping. The biggest advantage of being based in the North however is having a wonderful choice of, beaches, snorkelling sites, hikes, and interesting sites to visit where you hardly ever see another tourist. The cruise ship passengers rarely make it up here. Some of our recommended trips are only known by a few locals so you really feel like you are adventuring and discovering some spectacular scenes.
Location is everything and in just one minute you can walk into Toucari bay. The village is small and has a local feel rather than touristic. You will find friendly locals who are happy to welcome you and have a chat. Wander the sandy beach with palm trees and almond trees, past the Rum Shops, fishing boats and kayak/paddle-board hire . Relax, watch the Pelicans and swim or snorkel out to one of the 2 reefs in the bay. These reefs are known to be 2 of the best on the island and the great thing is you will truly feel like you have found paradise

Hi I am married to Andrew and we are now semi retired. I am a Mum of one son and have a lovely daughter in law and two grandchildren. We have built Treetops this year and it has been a labour of love. We have both been involved in every stage and we are very proud of it. My business career was as a project manager and I also worked most of my life as a professional singer. I now do some Jazz gigs in Dominica and love ' keeping my hand in'. Andrew and I have been coming to Dominica for 8 years now and love the nature and the people. We have made many good friends on the island and it truly feel that is our 2nd home. Our other passions are mainly outdoors. We love sailing in the Mediterranean and to ski the French Alps. When we are home in UK we try to book as many theatre shows as we can. We both try to keep fit and healthy so we can continue to make the most of life. We would like to travel more and have a wish list of places we want to visit.

Apart from Andy and I we have an amazing local team of 3 Dominicans who will be looking after you. Son our neighbour is the key holder and a wonderful knowledgeable 74 year old local character. Caso is the local guide and looks after the property and gardens. Caso can take you on a boat ride or a local hike. Both trips are highly recommended. Christine is the housekeeper. They are all delightful and well worth chatting to. They take great pride in being part of the growth of Tourism in Dominica.
