The Winemaker's suite, integrated in a traditional Algarve monte, has the simplicity of a country room. With a minimalist decoration, this double room with bathroom and a private outdoor terrace, invites our guests to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the farm while tasting our organic wine. Here we produce author organic wine and live in harmony with the surrounding nature. The quinta is less than 5 minutes away from the vibrant city of Lagos and its beautiful beaches.

El espacio
Our visitors stay in comfortable and cosy accommodations, built with techniques typical of the area and fine materials - the wooden beams, the stone walls, the handmade tiled floors, the traditional reed ceilings - which naturally give them a special rustic atmosphere.

We do not provide television or air conditioning, as here we value the contact and harmony with nature.

All life on the farm is guided by a strong ecological awareness, which translates into the respect for biodiversity and the sustainable management of all available resources.

Agricultural activity respects the rhythm of the seasons, becoming more visible and present at harvest time (late August/early September) when the grapes - which have been ripening in the heat of the summer - are picked in an atmosphere of great celebration.

Guests are welcome to participate in this important moment that happens once a year, as well as in any other for which they have curiosity and interest.

If you enjoy being in touch with nature, come and visit us and discover our daily life.

It gives us great pleasure to share it with you!

A dónde irás

Lagos, Faro, Portugal

Monte da Casteleja is located 3 km from the historic city of Lagos.

Lagos is a small town with 30,000 inhabitants and full with over 2000 years of history, mainly as an ancient maritime city and at one time centre of the European slave trade.

During the time of the famous discoveries of the 15th and 16th centuries Lagos navigators left to conquor new lands. The great statue of D. Henrique - one of the most famous figures from the beginning of that era stands in one of the main squares and is just one sign of many of the great connections of the city to this historic moment.

Many slaves arrived here from Africa and were sold as forced labour within Portugal and to Brazil. The old slave market still exists in the old city center.
From 1576 until 1755, when the old town was destroyed by the historic earthquake and tsunami, Lagos was a high-profile capital of the Algarve. Many of the buildings are from the 17th century with some walls, including the governor's castle, still remaining from the 16th century.

Long before the Age of Discovery however, the Moors arrived in the 8th century from North Africa, leaving many traces of their existence in architecture, language, and culture. Feel the strength of this cultural heritage, particularly in agricultural practices, where the knowledge of irrigation systems and fruit drying still remains today.

In the 60s and 70s, there were several canning factories which gave work to many families and even produced for export. Nowadays this industry no longer exists in the region. But the communities of local fishermen, who practice artisanal fishing, are still active and you can find lots of fresh fish in the daily markets and restaurants.

The various beaches are home to many sun and sand lovers, surf and other aquatic sports.

At night the bars and clubs have plenty of entertainment to offer for those who still have the energy for a few drinks and dancing.

From here to Cape St. Vincent, the extreme southwest of the European continent, the part between the milder south coast of the Mediterranean Sea and the west coast of the Atlantic Ocean form 25 km of increasingly wild and windy beaches and a breathtaking landscape. The nearby village Sagres is part of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina. Welcome to a magical place which is worth knowing !

Hola.
