SPECIAL HEALTH NOTICE FOR OUR GUESTS

During this unsettling time, please note that we are following CDC and local guidelines regarding the prevention, avoidance, and containment of the coronavirus. Though it is our personal choice to avoid as much contact as possible, we understand that many must travel at this time, and therefore are choosing to remain open to new reservations. Please find some confidence that we are exercising extreme caution regarding cleaning and social distancing. In our communications with our guests, we will include instructions for self check in, access control, and offer any other advice or information requested.

Best regards,
Sue and Mark

“Town & Country” Vineyard Cabin is on a private Grey Forest, TX, hilltop property surrounded by the natural beauty of our vineyard, orchard, and the Texas Hill Country opening up before you. Cyclists and bikers, joggers and walkers, nature-lovers, music-lovers, antiquers, BBQ fans, sunset seekers and their pooches will find happiness here!

Mid-century modern furnishings, comfortable bed, all linens, fully equipped self-catering kitchen, with private front porch and back dining deck provided to make you feel at home. Inside, the cabin's warm wood walls and floors make for a cozy retreat.

Up to two adult guests (21 and older, only) may enjoy the entire 1-bedroom guest cabin’s queen-sized bed, full bath with tub and shower, vineyard, orchard, and gardens, all within easy access to the Texas Hill County and San Antonio.

We have neighbors, but you'll never see their houses. Instead the peaceful, dark night skies are filled with stars, and in the early summer, fireflies! Over one acre of enclosed grounds give our guests peace of mind that their pooches can roam safely or frolic with dog-hostesses Vienna and Geneva!

Plus you'll have access to the shared swimming pool (pool towels and his/her guest swimwear available), and our bocce court. Fresh bath linens will be restocked, and breakfast goodies replenished as needed. A small charcoal grill and chiminea are ready for your use, as well.

The property is completely enclosed and is complemented by our 1957 mid-mod "Town" home located on the property, but far enough away for you to feel secluded (please see photos).

Acceso de los huéspedes
Guests will have full access of the entire cabin, it’s decks, gardens, and its amenities. There is a shared swimming pool and bocce court on the property, as well as the vineyard and gardens. Property is over an acre of enclosed space and accessed by private gate. Upon arrival you'll get use of your set of the cabin keys and a gate remote control.

Enjoy high speed internet and WiFi, CD/radio, portable record player, cable television, and a Roku access to Netflix and other channels. A DVD player is available to play a wide assortment of classic, critically acclaimed, and international films on hand.

Otros aspectos a destacar
At the end of April /early May the local town hosts its annual Cornyval event with small town parades, carnival, and one of the best small rodeos in the nation.

On any first Saturday of the month, you'll find Helotes Market Days, with themed weekends ranging from chili cookoffs to classic cars. Arts, crafts, and locally made products abound!

Around here, October is Willie Nelson month! Check out the website for John T. Floore Country Store to see who else might be playing.

Stay, kick back, and relax; or use the guest cabin as your home base to the rest of the Texas Hill Country. A concierge kit sits next to the computer where we share information about our favorite hikes and small-town purveyors of gelato, cycle-repair, enchiladas, and jerky!

Be sure to ask us about our favorite Chicken Fried Steak in each Hill Country town!

In one direction from the cabin, we're in walking distance to one of the greatest romantic dining sites in Texas, The Grey Moss Inn; and in the other direction, you'll find a natural area with walking paths. Several natural areas, preserves, and city parks surround our neighborhood, as well, and all are pet-friendly.

A nearby short drive, there's Old Town Helotes, a small Texas gem with the world famous John T. Floore Country Store - the honky-tonk where Willie Nelson got his start, and still plays most every October. Every first Saturday is a Market Days, and open most days are a couple of antique shops, bakery, and two really cool bicycle shops.

Cyclists and bikers, hikers, joggers, walkers, nature-lovers, music-lovers, sunset seekers, antiquers, and BBQ fans will all find happiness here.

Sea World; Six Flags Fiesta, Texas; The South Texas Medical Center & UT Health Science Center; The University of Texas at San Antonio; Valero; and USAA headquarters are all short drives from the property; and Downtown San Antonio only a few miles further. The Grey Forest Vineyard Cabin is perfect for both business travelers and pleasure seekers!

This is a shared account for Sue and Mark, a couple married for over 35 years. We share your love of travel, and have restored our property - house and cabin - to highlight our love of gardening, art & architecture, relaxing, winemaking, and the amazing Texas Hill Country. Our style is to be open to wonderful experiences, and meet as many people as we can along the way. Mark has taught Architectural Design, Art, and Art History; he's traveled with hundreds of students, and we've also taken many, many trips on our own. A few of our favorite trip highlights: we've spent nights on Capri, overnight trains from Paris to Florence and Barcelona, ferry from Brindisi to Patras, bullet train from Hakone to Kyoto, set on fire during a shave at a Turkish bath, floated in the Libyan Sea off Matala, blackened our teeth on a squid dish in San Barnaba, sat in the NBC commentators’ box at the Tour de France, lost miserably at bocce to the locals in Barbarino Val d'Elsa, heard Wagner in the Sydney Opera House, and visited ancient sites in Rome more times than we've seen the Alamo here at home. Recently we were super excited to have visited the South Pacific and we fell in love with New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji! Next up, we want to explore more of America! Sue is especially excited to show off "her" mountain to Mark with a visit to her hometown of Tacoma and Mount Ranier. Mark's excited to see Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. We are considering training to hike the Appalachian Trail soon!

Durante tu estadía
We do enjoy meeting our guests at some point during their stay, but the amount of interaction depends entirely on our guests and their wants. (The same goes for our dog-hostesses; interactions with them are also according to guests wishes.)

We live in the second home located on the property, with the shared swimming pool and bocce court adjacent. We are always made available to our guests by phone, social media, email, and in person when requested.
