Hello, we are Stuart and Amy, the owners of the Tin Can Retreat. We have two gorgeous spaces available to host you, a 1962 Airstream Tradewind which was imported from the state of Alabama and a 1963 Vintage bus, both of which have been lovingly updated to modern standards.
A little bit about us, we love adventure and discovering new places and with the rise of remote working we have been travelling full time for just over a year and the Airstream and Bus combine our two loves of vintage tiny spaces and adventure.
It all started with the bus which we purchased for the princely sum of £750 to create a home for ourselves, followed by two years of blood, sweat and tears and we created what you can see today. The conversion was featured on 'George Clarkes Amazing Spaces' where it was described as 'A big, beautiful and very comfortable home on wheels, with a classic mini in the back, as a way of creating new experience and gathering life long memories, this takes some beating!'.
Our first experience of an Airstream was in 2019 when we stayed at Joshua Tree National Park in California. The remote location, beautiful night sky and Americana cool of the trailer amazed us and we began formulating plans to replicate it in the UK.
Fast forward to 2021 and a chance meeting with Farmer Gordon led us to putting a plan in place for our dream which we have named the Tin Can Retreat. Setting up this location has also meant that we have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time at Capel Tygwydd and in that time we have found some real gems and ideas of things to do which we have shared in our guidebook when you come to stay.
If you have any questions at all please reach out to us.
