El espacio
A few years ago, we built a tiny house in Missoula, Montana. We call it 282 because the space is 282 square feet of bright, clean, open space. Our family of four lived in 282 for two years and we found tiny living quite comfortable. We have since moved but want to share our tiny living experience with others who are visiting our lovely mountain town.

Recently updated, 282 offers one queen-sized bed and one fold-out, full-sized bed perfect for children. The space can accommodate four people (two adults and two children, for example) or two adults comfortably. 282 is a studio with a full kitchen (stove, fridge, sink, etc.) and one bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower. (If you’re a leisurely showerer, just know that our water tank accommodates one 20-minute shower or several shorter ones- that’s tiny living for you!)

282 is completely stocked with dishes, pots, pans, a French press and towels. There's a kitchen table and French doors that open onto a small patio. There is WiFi, and a flat screen Roku TV with Netflix and other streaming apps that you are welcome to sign into. The house is separated from the main residence by a privacy fence and has its own entrance. Children can enjoy our small climbing wall.

A dónde irás

Missoula, Montana, Estados Unidos

282 is a ten-minute walk to downtown Missoula, a ten-minute bike ride (20-minute walk) to the University of Montana and is nestled in Missoula's eclectic Northside neighborhood. The Northside is a short bike ride to Greenough Park, the Rattlesnake trailhead and the Clark Fork River. Full of artists, writers and filmmakers, the Northside is on the register of national historic places and was once home to German, Italian and Asian immigrants. For many years it was the working-class heart of Missoula where residents worked in either the local saw mill or for the railroads. Today, the Northside is full of young families, hip millennials and longtime residents. Over the past ten years, the neighborhood has grown with new, modern-looking houses popping up all over creating a mix of historic homes and newly-built ones tucked into tree-lined streets. In keeping with its working class roots and the rise of company towns in the early part of the last century, houses on the Northside are built close together, which makes being a good neighbor an important characteristic of any Northsider. We love our neighborhood and we hope you will too!

My husband and I moved to Missoula 17 years ago for a one-year job in a van packed with books. We never left. We've lived on a farm surrounded by fallen down fences where we had our two daughters. We've lived in the heart of Missoula in a tiny house with our daughters, two dogs and a wayward bunny. After ten years of farm life and two amazing years of living tiny, we want to share both of these spaces with travelers like you. We love our town, our community and our homes. We hope you will too.

We live on the same block and are happy to help answer any questions about swimming holes, restaurants serving local food or where to find the best latte in town. Our longterm renter PJ lives in the main house on the property. You might see him or his dog Rex. PJ is the best and Rex is the sweetest dog on the planet.
