Quaint urban maritime neighborhood with historic houses up and down the street. A block and a half from the Quinnipiac River canoe launch. Close to parks and dog walking areas. The original house was built around 1840 and gives off an urban farm/green space vibe. New floors in bedroom/dining area and bathroom provide modern luxury. Windows on the east, south and west walls let in plenty of light. Minutes to I-95, I-91, and Union Station.

Ubicación

New Haven, Connecticut, Estados Unidos

Quaint maritime neighborhood with lots of history and charm. Explore the river with a canoe equipped with paddles, life vests, and a boat cart for easy transport to the launch, which is a block and a half away. A relatively unknown part of New Haven known for its river views. Around the corner you'll find a take-out restaurant and wine shop. Currently, the Grand Avenue bridge is closed for repairs, so you will need a car to explore the west bank of the Quinnipiac, which features waterfront dining at Anastasio's Boathouse Cafe. A quarter mile down Grand Avenue brings you to Grand Apizza, one of New Haven's classic pizza restaurants. A quarter of a mile up Quinnipiac Avenue is Quinnipiac Meadows Preserve, which features nature trails, bird blinds, and spectacular sunset views of the river. Fairmont Park at the top of the hill as a nature trail and large meadow and is perfect for walking your dog. We are close to landmark destinations including Lighthouse Point and East Rock Park.

I am a university professor with a specialization in Native American Literature and a passion for urban ecology, music, and the fine arts. I enjoy raising chickens, maple sugaring, and exploring the local environment via canoe, bicycle, and foot. New Haven is a diverse and fascinating place, with lots of cultural and natural resources close by. I manage the Bnb's with Donna, who has a degree in environmental science and a passion raising orchids. LP currently on the turntable: Arlo Guthrie, Hobo's Lullaby. Books we're currently reading: Ursula K. LeGuin, The Earthsea Trilogy; Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Mind, Beginners Mind. I have two spaces available. Maritime Neighborhood is the original Airbnb. It features a large, private suite and full bath. Dragon Point is the 2nd floor apartment (Dragon Point is the historic name of the maritime district of the Quinnipiac River). It is a complete 2-bedroom apartment with a fully stocked kitchen. One of our recent guests used the kitchen and large dining room to cater an event at Lyric Hall, one of our landmark local theaters. Both spaces have a private guest entrance. You can come and go as you please without disturbing and/or interacting with the other members of the household. Breakfast is available upon request. I am happy to chat over a meal whenever it is mutually convenient.
