A cosy coastal cottage steps from Seahouses harbour. This upside down house is a light airy cottage with cosy but modern furnishings. A brand new log burner has been fitted in February 2019. There is parking for one car. The cottage is situated on the Northumberland coastal path, perfect for visiting local beaches and a well behaved dog is very welcome. The Schooner Inn opposite has live music at weekends.
This cosy cottage has a double bed in a ground floor bedroom. The bathroom offers a bath with shower over and lots of hot water. An upstairs sitting room allows for a light and airy living space with a well equipped kitchen. A log burner and electric heating makes the cottage a cosy place to stay.
St. Cuthbert's Cottage is situated in heart of the harbour area of Seahouses. All local amenities are in walking distance and the cottage is perfectly situated for all Northumberland has to offer, including the fantastic beaches. St. Cuthbert's cottage is opposite The Schooner and Black Swan Inn. The Schooner hosts live music on a Saturday evening.

Puffin Place is a great little holiday hideaway set in the historic conservation area of Seahouses and is perfect for couples or small families / groups. The cottage is in a peaceful location but just a minute from the harbour with the Northumbrian Coastal Path just at the end of the lane.
We bought Puffin Place in April 2018 both in order to be able to use the cottage ourselves and hire out to visitors. It takes just an hour to get to from our home in Newcastle, and once there we rarely feel the need to use the car except when we're taking a day-trip to one of the many nearby sites of interest. In the time we have spent in the Seahouses everyone seems very friendly, even by North-East standards. Seahouses is a 'resort village' with something for everyone and is ideally located in the centre of the Northumbria coastline. All the other attractions of the Northumbria coast are within a short drive: to the north (Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and Berwick); to the south (Craster, Beadnell and Embleton) and inland to Alnwick and a multitude of picturesque villages and other attractions. The cottage is tucked away in a quiet location in the oldest part of the village, among the smokeries and fishermen's cottages, but just a few minute's walk from the bustling harbour and the centre of the town. Despite its history - it was built in around 1850 - the cottage has been fully modernised and run as a popular holiday let since 2001.
Puffin Place is is located within a 2 minute walk of the Seahouses village amenities where there's a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Guests can take daily boat trips available to the Farne Islands, the home of seals and seabirds and explore the surrounding area filled with wildlife. There are beautiful sandy beaches to the north and south with lots of places of interest just a short journey away. Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island are a short run up the coast and the historic market town of Alnwick along with castle and gardens is a 20 minute drive inland.

Centrally located behind Front Street, Bamburgh, this stylish, refurbished (2016), two bedroom apartment sleeps 4 people. It's coastal-inspired interior extends to the twin bedroom, double bedroom, kitchen/lounge and double shower. Located in a quiet, residential street yet only a few steps from the centre of the village, beach, play park, castle, shops, restaurant and cricket pitch, the apartment includes private parking. Ideal for families, couples, walkers, bird watchers and golfers.
WiFi - PLEASE BE AWARE BAMBURGH IS A WIFI BLACKSPOT AND IS NOT AVAILABLE AT OUT PLACE. We hope to have created a relaxing space for you to enjoy and get away from it all. Bamburgh is in rural.Northumberland and is a WiFi blackspot and therefore we do not provide WiFi as it is so patchy. There is free WiFi next door at the Victoria Hotel and also at The Castle Inn but again, it is intermittent. Towels You will find bath and hand towels and a bath mat in the airing cupboard. Appliances & facilities Instructions for all appliances should be located under the sink. Other facilities; High chair, travel cot (please bring your own bedding for travel cot), plastic cutlery and crockery for younger children, hairdryer, DAB radio, Tassimo Vivy drinks maker (please provide your own pods), hoover, iron, ironing board.  For rainy days there is a Wii console and a selection of games. Please feel free to bring your own games. There are board games in the hall cupboard.    TV/DVD The TV is Freeview (sorry, no SKY!) and there is a DVD player built into the side of the television.   Hot water Please note that hot water comes via an immersion tank and once the tank has been used you will need to wait for it to re-heat (which takes about 1 hour). The tank supplies enough hot water water for approximately 4 people to shower in a row – but if members of your party wish to linger, person number 4 may be cold! Heating The apartment is heated via panel heaters for immediate warmth. Bedding  Spare bedding – please let us know if you require extra bedding for the sofa bed or single mattress. In the interests of the environment we would appreciate it if you could please leave any unused towels in the airing cupboard and turn down used beds to indicate if they have been slept in. Refuse At present there are no recycling arrangements at the apartment. Please dispose of all rubbish in one of the two large green wheelie bins behind the apartment in the car park. Should you wish to, there is a recycling centre 4 miles away at North Sunderland. Continue down Ingram Road, and follow the signs for North Sunderland and Seahouses. The centre is on the right just before you enter North Sunderland.
There are a number of shops, pubs and restaurants in the village of Bamburgh. General stores; There are two small general   The Pantry is in the middle of Front Street – it also serves ice cream, sandwiches and takeaway hot and cold drinks.   The nearest major supermarket is Co-Op in Seahouses. In Alnwick there is Sainsbury, Lidl and Aldi. There are no newspapers for sale in Bamburgh. The nearest place to purchase them is at the Co-Op in Seahouses or Waren Caravan and Camping.   Eating and drinking; The Potted Lobster – famed for its seafood, local Northumbrian fayre and friendly welcome. Booking recommended. (Limited opening hours out of season so please check.) There is an occasional wood fired pizza oven operating from the Walled Garden – please check for opening times. Eating and drinking; There are three pubs, The Victoria Hotel, The Castle Inn and The Lord Crewe. The Castle Inn has a large beer garden.   There is a tea room, The Copper Kettle, on Front Street. The Wynding Well, also on Front Street, serves sandwiches, ice cream, scones and coffee to eat in or take away - open seasonally. Cashpoints; The nearest free to use cashpoint is in Seahouses, 4 miles away. There is a Barclays Bank and also a cashpoint at the Coop there. There is a pay-to-use cashpoint at The Purdy Lodge petrol station beside the A1.   Petrol; The nearest petrol station is beside the A1 at the Bamburgh turn off beside The Purdy Lodge. It also has a pay-to-use cashpoint. There is also a petrol station just off the A1 at Alnwick and one in Seahouses.

Edna's House offers a decent size double room ideal for a couple or single. You're welcome to bring and make your own breakfast. Tiny and remote, Chathill is neatly placed half way between Alnwick and the coast. It has a nearby train station with links to Newcastle for a day's shopping. It is also close to local wedding venues at Ellingham, Newton and Doxford. There is no TV in the house and limited wifi, so staying could be your ideal digital detox. I look forward to welcoming you.
Edna's House is a semi-detached cottage with a small garden. The house also has a little kitchen, sun porch and living room with open fire. You are welcome to make use of the house alongside me. I have an odd work schedule so I'll let you know when I'm going to be around.
Chathill is a lovely quiet village. The neighbours are friendly but not intrusive.

Norman y Tracey nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos e incluso hicieron un esfuerzo adicional para arreglar las flores de mi esposo para nuestro aniversario.     Sandham is a delightful Grade 2 listed single storey holiday cottage, offering spacious and very comfortable accommodation in 3 bedrooms. The cottage has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard and is within walking distance of Bamburgh's shops, pubs, restaurants and the beautiful sandy beach. An ideal base from which to explore Northumberland. Private parking for two cars.
    Sitting room with views over the private garden, open fire, TV, DVD, iPod player and small library. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower, the master bedroom has an ensuite shower room. All linen and towels provided - please don’t forget your own beach towels. Originally constructed in 1894 to provide accommodation for workmen brought to restore Bamburgh Castle for Lord Armstrong, the wooden construction gives it a feel of a New England beach house, with many of the original Victorian features still in place. An ideal base from which to explore Northumberland.
    Bamburgh's sandy beach is legendary and the village has some excellent food shops and restaurants including R Carter and Daughter, deli and butcher and The Potted Lobster, a renowned seafood eatery. The Farne Islands, famous for their bird life are a stone’s throw away.

    Morningsyde is a cosy comfy home from home by the sea, sleeping 4 in one double room and one twin room. We welcome dogs and make no additional charge for four legged friends. The beach is a 5 minute walk in any direction from the cottage and we are just a stones throw from local shops and amenities. We offer parking for one medium sized car, although on-street parking is available if you are visiting with friends. There is an enclosed yard with a bench to the front for watching the world go by
    We try to supply basic amenities i.e tea, coffe and sugar, tea towels. There is a washer dryer and washing power in the small utility room which guests are welcome to use. We also provide a selection of books, dvds and board games. For our four pawed guests we provide one large dog crate, one large dog bed and spare dog bowls, together with a few treats to make them feel at home.
    Seahouses is known as the gateway to the Farnes and is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. Morningsyde Cottage is just minutes from miles of white sandy beaches, within easy access of the Northumbeland National Park and Cheviot Hills and perfectly located to explore all that Northumberland and the Scottish Borders have to offer.

    My place is close to the seafront, the beach, restaurants and dining. You’ll love my place because of the accessibility of being close to everything that you need on holiday. After a great day walking or playing on the beach followed by fish and chips, there is nothing better than snuggling up in front of the wood burning stove. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids) and furry friends (pets).
    Guests have use of the whole cottage.

    The Sands is a dog friendly fisherman's cottage in the centre of Seahouses, only a couple of minutes walk (approx 150yds) from the harbour, beach, shops and restaurants. Central location with a private parking space, open log fire, gated front area with Bistro set and recently renovated. Seahouses is situated on a sunning part of the Northumberland Coast, a great base for lots of activities including trips to the Farne Islands, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and a beautiful golf course close by.
    The living room area is open plan, tastefully decorated with a open wood fire for the colder evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with all you would need, including a coffee machine with a starter supply of Dolce Gusto pods for a latte or hot chocolate. There is a dining table and chairs for 4 and a highchair available on request. Upstairs there are two generous rooms (one kingsize, one twin) with The White Company luxury bedding. The king-size room has ample built in storage and a dressing table. The bathroom has a spacious walk-in dual mixer shower with WC and basin. Towels are provided. To the front of the property has a small courtyard with a bistro style table and two chairs, accompanied by a bench perfect for finishing the day with a glass of wine, watching the world go by. Unusual for a town centre property, there is off-road private parking for one medium sized car to the rear of the property. Other parking available less 100 metres away or at the local carparks for a small charge.
    Only a few mins walk to the harbour, beach, shops and restaurants.

Built in 1864 to impress all that saw it, Middleton Gate House is approached through a 45ft high grand arch, formerly the entrance to Middleton Hall and set in private grounds of 3.5 acres. The Gate House is an extremely attractive detached stone built lodge steeped in history. The accommodation is mainly on ground floor level and is exceptionally presented throughout. The sun room at the entrance offers a relaxing spot overlooking open rural views, whilst the large kitchen/dining room enjoys a homely ambience. The separate living room benefits from a welcoming wood burner ensuring Middleton Gate House provides a cosy retreat, regardless of the season. The stylishly furnished master bedroom and family bathroom are also on this level. There are twin beds on the first floor, which can be linked to to create a large double bed if preferred. The views from the first floor stretch across to the sea with Lindisfarne Castle on the horizon. Well tended grounds offer grass, woodland and a stream, and boast spectacular views to the sea, the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne, Budle Bay and other lovely countryside. Middleton Gate House is situated just over a mile from the friendly village of Belford where a warm welcome greets visitors. The village is often described as ‘the Gateway to the Secret Kingdom’ and offers many shops, a tea room, pubs serving delicious food, and an impressive golf driving range. There are also a variety of facilities available nearby including riding stables, a dog day care and kennels. The ‘picture postcard’ coastal village of Bamburgh, which is dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden, sandy sweeping beach, is a mere 6 miles east. The small and friendly market town of Wooler sits at the foot of the Cheviot Hills 12 miles west and is a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling, hang-gliding, golf and horse riding. For walkers, the challenging route of the ‘St Cuthbert’s Way’ runs close by. Chatton Trout Fishery invites amateur anglers to fish in a picturesque 4-acre lake close by. Although Middleton is quietly situated, the A1 is less than a mile away, giving easy access to the elegant Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon-rich River Tweed to the north and the cobbled, market town of Alnwick (protected by its dramatic castle) to the south. A cosy & quiet retreat with uninterrupted views over the Northumberland Coastal AONB, Budle Bay & the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. An ideal base providing direct access to both coast & countryside. Enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda taking in the rural & sea views. With hot running water, shower, oven & hob, guests can enjoy the nature of the outdoors with all the home comforts. Private garden & parking
    Handcrafted and fully insulated, Shearling Shepherds hut is able to be enjoyed all year round. The hut has been cleverly designed and tastefully decorated providing a high level of comfort for the duration of your stay allowing you to experience nature in luxury. The hut is designed to maximise space during the day time with a large pull out table and two pull out benches to provide a seated dining area which could also be used as a desk. The kitchen area provides a gas oven with a 4 ring hob and an under the counter fridge/freezer. Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided to enable you to cook your own meals, if you so wish. There is space for 2 people in a king size bed with luxury mattress and cotton sheets. The semi enclosed sleeping area with double glazed windows and black out blinds makes for a peaceful nights sleep. The bed is accessed via a step up into a cosy bedroom area with a window looking out towards Holy Island. The en-suite bathroom is situated off the kitchen area and provides an electric rainfall shower, flushing toilet and hand basin. There are wall mounted electrical plugs and electric lighting throughout the hut for your convenience. A 24 inch wall mounted TV is also provided should you wish to stay indoors. Inbuilt storage under the bed and in the bench seats means the living area can be clutter free allowing you to enjoy the space provided. A veranda furnished with a table and 2 chairs allows you to sit outside and enjoy the views. There is a fenced private lawn area for your exclusive use and parking directly adjacent to the hut so you don't have far to carry your belongings. There is secure storage for bikes in external storage lock up if required. There is a hardstanding area behind the hut suitable for parking a medium sized motorhome together with an adjacent lawn suitable to extend an awning. A tent could also be pitched on the rear or front lawn. There is a separate standard 16 Amp electrical hook-up point and mains water tap to serve the hard standing area. The area is not suitable for large motorhomes or any sized caravans.   This serviced area is exclusively reserved to hut guests and could be utilised for joint bookings with other parties subject to an additional fee for the motorhome or tenting guests. If you wish to pitch a tent or bring a motor home, please specify this when booking. Due to very little light pollution in this location, you will have the opportunity to witness the stars in the night sky. A fire pit in the garden can be made available upon request at the time of booking. Regretfully, the hut is not suitable for young children nor pets.
    The location: Shearling Shepherds hut occupies an elevated position providing views stretching across open farmland to the spectacular Northumbrian coastline. What to see/where to visit: The hut is ideally located as a base from which to explore Northumberlands many coastal attractions including The Holy Island of Lindisfarne which is accessed via a causeway from Beal, only a 10 minute drive away. Coastal attractions: Budle Bay, Bamburgh Castle and beach, the seaside town of Seahouses and Beadnel Bay Harbour are all coastal destinations accessible within a 20 minute drive along the picturesque coastal driving route. These villages all provide a range of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. The Farne Island nature reserve is accessible by boat from Seahouses, here you can see seals, puffins, dolphins and many other sea birds. Rural attractions: A 20 minute drive inland will take you to Chillingham Castle, Alnwick Castle, treehouse and gardens and the picturesque villages of Ford & Etal to name a few. For the walkers: St Cuthberts Way walk can be joined from the nearby village of Belford and just a bit further inland, the Cheviot Hill range provides excellent walks and viewpoints from from which to take in 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. For the cyclists: The Sandstone Way cycle route is a fabulous way to see more of the area. There is secure storage available for your bike upon request should you require it. City visits: The city of Edinburgh is easily accessible by being only 45 minutes away by train from Berwick Railway station. Newcastle can be accessed by car within one hour. Shopping: The hut is situated approximately 3 miles from the village of Belford where you can pick up your every day essentials from from the village store. Alternatively a more extensive range of amenities, including large supermarkets, can be found in Berwick-upon-Tweed or Alnwick, both only a 20 minute drive away. Eating out: From coffee shops to fish & chip take aways, to pub lunches, fine restaurants and everything in between, there are so many places to choose from in the various towns and villages near by so there is always something for everyone!

It offers stupendous views of the Farne Islands and is less than a five minute walk to one of Northumberland's finest beaches. The flat offers a sunny, enclosed patio area to the rear and a large lawned garden area to the front with private parking for 2 cars.

    The Net House is a bright but cosy cottage in the heart of Old Seahouses, right by the harbour and just a short walk from one of the many beautiful beaches on the Northumberland coast. Well placed for local amenities, The Net House is just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Seahouses where you will find a well stocked Co-op as well as an array of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Bamburgh, recently voted Britain's favourite seaside resort, is a short drive (or a 3 mile coastal walk) away
    The Net House is bright, airy and cosy all at once. Contemporary decor with a mid-century twist, it's the perfect beach retreat in summer while the addition of a large window woodburning stove, books, jigsaws and boardgames sets the tone for snuggly winter breaks . A cracking dog-friendly pub, The Black Swan, with its open fire is just across the way. The Net House benefits from open plan living all on one level making it a perfect choice for families. There are two bedrooms - one double and one twin - both with en suite. We love (well behaved) dogs and we welcome two at The Net House for £20 per dog. While there is parking for two cars, manoeuvring into the space can be tricky. For that reason, we recommend reversing in and driving out.     The Garden Cottage is a two-bedroom holiday cottage situated on the shoreline of Budle Bay, part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, Bamburgh. The layout of the cottage includes a kitchen with breakfast area, living room, 1 double en-suite, 1 twin room and shower room. The cottage is ideal for sharing with family, friends and couples looking to unwind and enjoy the award winning Northumberland Coast.
    The Garden Cottage is located on the shoreline of Budle Bay, which is part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve and one of the best bird watching spots in Britain. At low tide the vast exposed mud flats are a rich feeding ground and home to a fascinating display of wildlife. The cottage sits within the picturesque grounds of Waren Lea Hall overlooking the beautifully landscaped walled garden, providing privacy and relaxation after a busy day. During the summer and autumn months the apple and pear trees come into blossom, there are a variety of rose plants, a hops plant and various other delights including a natural stream and pond area. The garden also provides the perfect space for the children to run about.
    The Northumberland Coast is a recognized Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty known for its bird life and miles of sandy beaches. Bamburgh Castle is 2 miles from the cottage as is the Grace Darling museum. There are also a few pubs, cafes and a general store in Bamburgh. Just 3 miles further up the road is Seahouses where boats trips can be taken to the Farne Islands to visit the grey seals and migrating sea birds. The area is also surrounded by many challenging golf courses and castles. Alnwick Castle which was a film site for Harry Potter and popular tourist town with award winning gardens is a 20 minute drive away. Newcastle is the nearest city and airport 50 miles south.

    Cosy, welcoming traditional station worker's cottage in a rural setting close to the coast. We're situated close to the railway at Belford on the Northumberland Coastal Route, only a mile's drive from Budle Bay and 2 miles to Bamburgh Castle and stunning beaches.
    The cottage was originally a railway worker's home, and has been upgraded to retain its original features but provides modern comforts too. So there is an open fire in an original Georgian fireplace in the lounge, and a Rayburn in the well-equipped kitchen, but this also runs full central heating and there is a dishwasher, separate oven and hob. Ground floor: Kitchen/dining room with Rayburn, oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge Living room with open fire, basic Sky and Freeview TV, DVD, CD. Bathroom with bath and shower over.     The cottage makes a great base for any season to tour Northumberland or the Scottish borders, Holy Island, the Cheviot Hills, ancient sites, coastal villages and market towns. Alnwick Castle and its famous Garden is 12 miles away, where there is also a theatre and weekly market. Belford with farm shop, cafes, restaurants, supermarket, pubs and post office is 1 mile away. Only a mile away there is a bird-spotting paradise at Budle Bay and it's 2 miles to Bamburgh with its beautiful sandy beach and castle.

  • Realmente disfrutamos nuestra estadía en la cabaña de la estación, pasamos un par de días allí como parte de nuestra 'mini luna' también con nuestro perro Hope. La cabaña es un espacio encantador y una ubicación ideal para explorar el área local. Bamburgh se encuentra a muy poca distancia en auto y con fácil acceso a Alnwick, Berwick y Seahouses, por nombrar algunos. Aunque cerca de la línea del tren, esto no fue un problema y a nuestras dos hijas les encantó ver los trenes que pasaban zumbando desde la ventana de la habitación delantera.     A lovely 18th century building, one of the oldest properties in Belford, that has a coffee shop below. In a friendly village only 5 miles from picturesque Bamburgh. Belford has pubs, restaurants, play parks, shops, chemist etc Very central for all attractions in Northumberland only half hour and you’re in Scotland. Near the coast with all its castles and beaches, and only 12 miles from Holy Island. Alnwick is only 14 miles away with the amazing castle and Gardens, also Barter Books.
    An open plan living area and kitchen. A very large bedroom with a double and single bed. There is a small bathroom with shower. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you may need for self catering. We provide dishwasher tablets etc
    The village is small and friendly with a choice of pubs and eateries. Note we are across a lane from one of the pubs.

    Our cottage is located in the North of England only 2.5 miles from the centre of Bamburgh, in the beautiful and often referred to as the North’s best-kept secret. We are well placed on the edge of historic Bamburgh, right in the centre of rural farming life. Our location gives you easy access to much of Northumberland’s encapsulating landscape and coastline, taking the stress out of seeing the sights.
    The Cottage has year round availability. You can experience the stunning views of Northumberland whenever you desire and with a host of interests on the doorstep, we’re sure you will enjoy every minute of your Northumbrian break.
    The cottage is surrounded by mature trees, which form a backdrop to the private decking area, perfect for seeing in the long summer evenings with a glass of wine and a good book. If you love nature, you’ll be well-catered for here. In fact, the area features a nature reserve for birds, with wildfowl and waders passing through in droves during the winter.

    Comfortable, quiet, harbour-front holiday apartment with spectacular views and space for a maximum of 6 (ideal for a family of 4) on the edge of Seahouses. Views out to the Farne Islands where you can see countless sea birds - or stay put and watch the wildlife from the apartment. We feel we ought to share our space - everyone is welcome.     The views from the flat are second to none in this area - with an uninterrupted view over the harbour and out to the Farne Islands (we have seen harbour porpoises, dolphins and seals from the living room!). The flat has been a family holiday home for about 25 years and so the property has a cosy, homely ambience. While it is fantastic sitting out on the balcony on a warm summer's eve, the property is equally enticing on a stormy winter's day with the log fire raging.
    The area of Seahouses is very quiet but only 5 minutes walk from the pubs and increasing number of eateries in the centre of the village. You may occasionally catch the scent of Swallows Fish Shop as they smoke their fish. As Seahouses is still a working harbour, the fish is often extremely fresh - go and see the fishermen as they land their catch and try to strike a bargain with them! The lifeboat is at the centre of things what with Grace Darling being a local heroine and all.

  • ¡Nos encantó este lugar! Tantos toques reflexivos y particularmente amigables con los perros. La cabina es más grande de lo que parece y la familia que la posee es encantadora. Perfectamente situado para llegar a todos los puntos destacados de la costa de Northumberland, a solo 10 minutos a pie del encantador pub local y a 15 minutos a pie de la playa. Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art. Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
