Mirador
“Highly recommend for first timers to LA. On a clear day you can see the entire Westside from here. Drive to the top and park for a fee $10 or park on the street for free and take the stairs for a great workout. Views include the Hollywood sign, downtown, the ocean, Sony picture studios. Enjoy!”

“Beautiful park with many hiking trails - long and short choices. Be mindful, it is steep, so even the easier paths include hills. But WORTH it. Also, horseback riding options here too...not easy to get bookings though as they're limited in number and book rather quickly. Another great fun feature are Polo Matches....yes, you read that correctly, polo matches. ”

“Great start for the Hollywood Sign hike! park in the Canyon Drive parking lot by the Gelsons Market in Hollywood off of Franklin. This is probably the easiest way to get to the Hollywood Sign. ”

“Amazing views at the very top! Moderate to Difficult hike due to narrowed pathways and about one mile hike all uphill- trust me it is definitely worth the effort. There is a super large American Flag at the top, with mountain ranges as your backdrop, and of course a 360 degree beautiful view of the valley and neighboring cities.”

“Sand Dune Park is an area of public sand dunes partly on a steep slope that is used for exercise in Manhattan Beach. The area has been used by amateur and professional athletes and has been featured in fitness magazines and newspaper accounts as a great workout spot. Next to the dune is a set of 208 steps up a steep hill. There's also a playground at the bottom of the dune great for children 8 and under.”

“These are the stairs in Silver Lake where Laurel and Hardy filmed the 1932 short film The Music Box, about moving a piano. It’s world famous—it's commemorated by a plaque and a Music Box Steps Day (October 18), which you can’t say for most of these sites around the city. Walking the steps gives you a reason to explore an LA neighborhood, and to me neighborhoods are what make the city great. Its unrivaled variety, beauty, and downright weirdness can mostly be found in the details of daily life, maybe a flowering bird of paradise plant or a squawking Quaker parrot.”
