“The National Mall is basically Washington DC’s backyard – it’s a grassy lawn where visitors and locals hang out on sunny days. Full of world-class museums (we’ll get to this later) and fun festivals, the National Mall is the center of many activities in the city.”

“Awesome place to visit with kids / family. The zoo is free. And while it isn't too large, there are plenty of wonderful animals to observe. Notably the pandas are probably the most popular attractions. ”

Costa
“About 20 minutes away, Old Town is sort of like Georgetown, but with easier parking. It's larger also, closeby to water, has a great vibe for going out, going for a walk, and is very charming.”

Mercado de agricultores

“Eastern Market is a historic market, built in 1873 as part of Pierre L’Enfant’s design for the city to include local neighborhood markets throughout the city. The architect of Eastern Market, Adolph Cluss, was the same architect who designed the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building (the Smithsonian “castle” on the Mall!). The Market is open daily from 7am – 7pm (closed on Monday), and includes vendors who sell fresh local fish, meats, cheeses, flowers, and local goods. The big draw for the Market, however, is the weekend artisan market in which hundreds of DC’s local artists and crafters set up tents to sell their beautiful and artsy products. 7th street is closed down and it is a lot of fun! The artisan market is from 9am – 5pm each Saturday and Sunday. The Market Lunch is a cafe in the Market that serves a great breakfast - be sure to check it out! The “blue bucks” pancakes (blueberry buckwheat pancakes) are amazing and “the brick” is their famous breakfast sandwich.”

“Beautiful and monumental cemetery. You can witness the changing of the guard every hour. Check times in advance. If you come too late for the cherry blossoms, this is the next best spot since the cherry blossoms here bloom later than the ones along the tidal basin”

Restaurante de perritos calientes
“A must for any celebrity visiting the city, Ben’s Chili Bowl has been a DC staple since it opened on U Street in 1958. The half-smoke toting restaurant’s storefront is plenty Instagrammable on its own, but the famous Ben’s Chili Bowl mural – featuring distinguished African American trailblazers and celebrities – is iconic. The colorful wall honors the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama, Dave Chappelle, Prince and Harriet Tubman.”

“Located just down Monroe Street, I’m at The Coupe at least once a week! They do coffee and pastries to-go ($3-$5), as well as sit down breakfast ($15pp), lunch, and dinner. It’s pretty big so there isn’t usually a wait (Sometimes for brunch), and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out! ”
