(right across the street!) The Laie Hawaii Temple was the first temple built by the LDS Church outside the contiguous United States. The temple is also the oldest to operate outside Utah, and the fifth-oldest LDS temple still in operation. Built by and labor missionaries, the temple site was dedicated in 1915 by Joseph F. Smith, with Heber J. Grant dedicating the finished structure in 1919.
Take a moment to enjoy a tranquil moment during your busy sightseeing schedule. Enjoy the lush gardens on the temple grounds then come inside the visitors' center to learn more about Jesus Christ and the purpose of temples. The gardens are beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful, and the Spirit of Aloha is powerful. Staff speak many languages, and there are tours, programs and films about family, about local history, and about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

(Parking is in a residential area. Make sure not to park in no parking zones/in front of fire hydrants. Please be respectful as it is a residential area) Hamama Falls, approximately 3.5 miles round trip has two great places to take a dip and lots of scenery to take pics of. Hamama Falls is a kid friendly hike and is fairly easy and mostly shaded. It's flat for the most part in the beginning and gets a little steeper as you get closer to the falls. Don’t drink river water because lepto can be common in river water.
This hike is on property owned by the Board of Water Supply so please respect this if you choose to visit. The hike begins at a locked gate that says "no trespassing, government property" We took our youth group hiking a few months ago, there were many other hikers. We saw a couple government service vehicles there but the employees just smiled and waved. There used to be a hole in the fence but they repaired it. Just walk to the left and go around the fence. Most of the trail is gravel but there are some muddy parts. The falls are beautiful and make for a great photo op.
