Fallbrook Restaurants
Fallbrook offers many dining options, but please note that since we are a small town, most restaurants may close by 8pm. Please be sure to check their hours in advance and plan ahead!
This is our favorite place in town! 127 West Social House is a gastropub with great food options and an extensive list of beers on tap, many of which are local to San Diego. Our favorites at Social House are the bacon-wrapped dates and Stagecoach burger.

Places to Drink
Fallbrook is in North San Diego County, which has a growing wine industry and is already part of a thriving brewery scene.
Our favorite local winery! Try the rose if it is available. Outdoor and indoor seating, and you can enjoy local wine that is grown completely in the Fallbrook area. We think their wines are superior to a lot of the options in nearby Temecula wine country, and Myrtle Creek is conveniently located 5 minutes from Foggy Oaks!

NOTE: Airbnb is only locating the Prohibition bar in Vista, but they recently opened a satellite location in Fallbrook, at 136 N. Main Avenue. Prohibition is a North San Diego County brewery with lots of great beer options, including growler fills to go.

The original location! Check out one of San Diego's first craft breweries, located about 40 minutes from Foggy Oaks. Huge beer list and a big restaurant based on "slow food" principles (local products and everything cooked from scratch). You can also do a brewery tour. Stone gets busy, so we recommend making reservations in advance for brewery tours and for the restaurant.

Fun Things to Do Nearby
Check out our nearest beach! Oceanside is about a 25-min drive from Foggy Oaks Farm. There is ample beach parking (note that you should bring change for meters or a few dollar bills for parking lots), great surf, and it's usually not too crowded, even in summer (if you go south toward San Diego you will encounter more crowds). The Oceanside Pier is great for walking and has a few restaurant options.

Calabro is a winery and olive oil/vinegar producer in nearby Temecula (about a 15-minute drive from Foggy Oaks). We definitely recommend checking out their free olive oil and vinegar tasting, where you will get try around 10-15 combinations of infused olive oils and vinegars. They have some really creative and surprising flavors, and you can also do a wine tasting or get a glass of wine or peach sangria to go with your olive oil tasting. Calabro is located in Old Town Temecula, which is great for walking around, shopping, and eating.

Old Town Temecula is a great area for strolling, eating, and shopping. There is a big farmers' market on Saturday mornings with a nice mix of produce vendors, crafts, and prepared foods. Make sure you try the Red Sambusas, our favorite snack!

Myrtle Creek is a fun family destination about five minutes away from Foggy Oaks. They are a nursery, so you can find a great selection of native and other plants. They have a great goat habitat (they ask you pay to feed the goats), picnic-type food available for purchase, and many nice seating areas. There is also an old Victorian house they have turned into a Fairy House. You can build your own fairy garden there, but just note the cost for that will add up quickly!

Check out Fallbrook's cute Main Street (technically Avenue!) for a stroll, shopping, and eating. Several of our other recommendations are located along Main Ave. On holiday weekends, American flags are posted along all the sidewalks. If you are visiting in April, you may be around for our world-famous Avocado Festival, when Main Ave. get shut down for a day of avo-goodness.

Just under an hour's drive from Foggy Oaks, the Children's Pool in La Jolla is a protected beach for seals. You can get relatively close via a walkway, and it works well as a fun stop on the way down to San Diego.

Great aquarium for children and adults. This is an excellent and more reasonably-priced alternative to the theme parks in the area (adult tickets around $20, children $15).

Balboa Park is San Diego's large urban park, located right in the city. It has a 17 museums and cultural institutions, including the Natural History Museum, Museum of Man, Fleet Science Center, and San Diego Museum of Art, among others. There are also park/garden areas, walking trails, a dog park, and an archery park. It is a great place to spend a few hours or the whole day. We like to stroll around before heading further into the city to check out Little Italy, the Gaslamp District, or a Padres game.

Mission Bay is one of San Diego's biggest beach recreation areas. You can rent boats, jet skis, stand-up paddle boards, as well as swim. Our favorite area in Mission Bay is Fiesta Island, which is an island that is completely off-leash for dogs. It has about 1/4 of the island fenced off from the road as a huge dog park. Our dogs love running around and jumping into the water here.

Our favorite hike! The Santa Margarita River runs along the hiking trail, with nice spots to dip your feet or let your dog jump in. From the San Diego County website: Acquired to preserve the resources and picturesque scenery of the Santa Margarita Valley, this preserve offers an outdoor escape to residents of the Fallbrook area. The 221-acre lush river corridor contains riparian and upland habitats. Raptors are a common site overhead or perched in trees. Deer and other large mammals rely on the river for their water. Two miles of non-motorized multi-use trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders, with an equestrian staging area, horse corral and portable restroom. Fishing is not allowed. Rich in wildlife, the preserve is also rich in cultural history. For centuries, the abounding resources in the river valley sustained Native Americans. Now preserved in perpetuity, this stretch of the river valley will define the natural beauty of Fallbrook and the County for generations to come.
