These are our personal recommendation from our own experiences as well as experiences shared with us from our Airbnb guest.
McKinney’s own and original brick-walled pub with a large wood fired pizza oven, with live music five nights a week. This is a great pizza restaurant but offers many other items to select from as well. For those that like salads, the Sedona salad is a local favorite. Great beer selection. Note of caution: The live music can get loud inside at times making it hard to converse with your party - but great music.

The nicest restaurant on the square and Rick own’s a few of the restaurants in McKinney. Rick is usually present most evenings as he seems to a very hands on owner/manager – hence good quality. Service and food has always been great for us. However, we only do dinner here on special occasions – anniversary, birthday’s Mother’s Day, etc. We do frequent The Lounge, which is a wonderful bar setting with live music most evenings. We do go here for their desserts and a night cap from time to time.

Rick's Chophouse
107 N Kentucky StThe nicest restaurant on the square and Rick own’s a few of the restaurants in McKinney. Rick is usually present most evenings as he seems to a very hands on owner/manager – hence good quality. Service and food has always been great for us. However, we only do dinner here on special occasions – anniversary, birthday’s Mother’s Day, etc. We do frequent The Lounge, which is a wonderful bar setting with live music most evenings. We do go here for their desserts and a night cap from time to time.
British pub food, beers and a full-service bar. Known best for a late night drink – hang out (so beware). The dart boards and pool tables are a local favorite. Known for their beverages and social climate rather than their food – just being honest.

They offer their own wines as well as a decent selection of others. Small, locally owned / operated and many nights the owners are present. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Outdoor seating is good, but faces west, so in the daytime in the summer, the sun and heat is not welcoming. Has live music many evenings. Their food menus is just simply finger foods, but they do allow you to bring in outside food.

103 E Virginia StThey offer their own wines as well as a decent selection of others. Small, locally owned / operated and many nights the owners are present. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Outdoor seating is good, but faces west, so in the daytime in the summer, the sun and heat is not welcoming. Has live music many evenings. Their food menus is just simply finger foods, but they do allow you to bring in outside food.

Live music on some evenings.

However, the lunch offerings are just as good. Many of the dishes will serve two people as the serving sizes are on the larger side of things.

By working with neighbors, they really try to create a forward thinking, seasonal menu with consideration to the raising and harvesting of the food they prepare and serve.

Great burger selections, with some really good sweet potato fries. This is a little pricey for a burger, but it is a “gourmet burger place with a great draft beer selection (if that is your thing). Their meats include Genesis grass-fed beef (supplied by Local Yocal Farm to Market, also on the downtown square), lamb, salmon, turkey and tuna. Side items include onion rings, sweet potato fries (served with garlic aioli sauce), gourmet mac-and-cheese, a wide variety of salads, and all burgers are served with a tempura fried pickle spear.

The most unique of all eateries that we have ever visited. The Mission of Hugs Cafe is to create an inviting place of training and employment for adults with special needs while providing dignity, self-worth and developing respect in the community.

BBQ, the best in all of McKinney. Winner of several awards. A true traditional BBQ/Smokehouse for slow-smoked beef and the finest ingredients, A Texas tradition since 1978. The best brisket in North TX and the very best Jalapenos poppers (brisket and cheese stuffed, wrapped in bacon) in the world.
