Sightseeing

The most beautiful red rock and sandstone you'll see in the world. Find a spot to jump in the Virgin River or enjoy hiking. We recommend the Pa-Rus trail from the visitor center.

For the hot summer months, playing in the river is one of our favorite activities. A great place to jump in is Conflence Park. You can access the trail from either the Hurricane side at the end of North Main Street or from LaVerkin. There is a long trail that borders the river and offers views of the lava flow.

If you want some where to explore and don't have tickets for the main canyon in Zion, Kolob is a great alternative. The reservoir is beautiful. Lots of wild life to see. There aren't many services in Kolob canyon so bring your own picnic. If you are an avid hiker, the trail for West Rim begins in Kolob Canyon and will take you about 12 miles down into Zion Canyon ending up at Scouts Lookout. It's a pretty strenuous hike, but absolutely breathtaking.

This is a local favorite to jump into the river. If you head just up river there are some great spots for skimming and tubing. There are also a couple of deeper areas for swimming. Be mindful of local weather and monsoons in July/August. Always check before you jump as our river likes to change from day-to-day.

Escape the hot summer heat at this beautiful lake just 10 minutes away from our place. The water is great and the beaches are a little rocky, but still enjoyable. Also great for kayaking, SUP boarding, boating, and fishing.

Food scene

If you are looking for great food and patio dining with a view of Zion, you can't beat Oscar's. We recommend the fish taco's, pesto casadia and get a load of their amazing brownie - it's to die for!

Great BBQ, cafe style so you can take it and go social distance style. They have great fried cauliflower, brisket, and icecream!

For a higher-end dinner place, we recommend Stage Coach! We ate there for Levi's birthday a while back and were pleasantly surprised at the great food and exceptional service.

If you want the BEST cinnamon roll ever, visit River Rock! The view from their balcony is incredible, too. They have a drive-through location on the way to Springdale, and a sit-down service location just across the bridge in LaVerkin. We love their smoothies, gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies, Latte's, and Chai tea. We've also recommended this place for lunch and dinner. Sandwiches are made with homemade local bread and the pizza was on par.

Walking Path / Park

If you'd like a place to walk near the pond and river, Grandpa's Pond is a one of my favorites. There is a paved walking path around the entire park. The river is easily accessed if you park at Grandpa's pond, too. The pond itself has geese, ducks, turtles, and lots of little lizards all around it. There is disk golf, playground, picnic areas, and a little dock for fishing or feeding the ducks.

Hiking

The West Cinder Knoll trail is pretty popular, and only a mile away from the farmhouse. If you take 600 Northwest from Main Street, there is a gate on the right side of the road just passed the city utility offices. Parking is limited because it's just off the side of the road. The loop for the west cinder knoll is just shy of 2 miles round trip.
