Unique Find

This unique little shop will surprise you. They rescue feral cats (2 sets of three which my dog located in the cul-de-sac and barn) to rehome. You can pet the cats for a small fee. They also sell swanky finds, local art, and amazing coffee! Great cause!

Art in the Alley is a free place to see some art. I recommend parking nearby, walking this alley, and lunch in Cafe Barista or the bakery at White Rabbit for coffee. SunDawg is also amazing, but that's breakfast for me. =)

City/town information

This location meets all your outdoor needs. - Waterfall on a 0.1 mile hike which you can walk behind or swim under (also amazing in winter but no swimming!) - Natural body slides (also beautiful in winter) - Bike trails of any length. I recommend renting a bike and riding it 6 miles to lunch in Confluence on a historic home's riverside porch - Stand up paddle board rentals - White Water Rafting - 1 mile round trip hike to "lover's leap" and a railroad bridge Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water house. There is also Kentuck Knob (another FLW house). I recommend stopping at "Brenda's Cafe" (no relation to me) on the way there or back for some wings or baked goods. About an hour south from your Retreat here.

This city always has something going on. https://www.pittsburghmagazine.com/best-of-pittsburgh/ Top recommendation: Arrange a Ducky Tour. Eat at the Melting Pot. Then, take the incline from Station Square for a great view. Eat icecream up top. End the day in Market Square. There is usually a Groupon for a Scavenger hunt accessed through your phone. Its fun and educational. You can make glass ornaments, jewelry and more. https://www.pittsburghglasscenter.org/ You can learn to cook international cuisines http://chopwoktalk.com/ Walk around the Point where the 3 rivers meet. Tour the Science Center, see the Omnimax, submarine, and aquariums. Go to the Zoo! Gosh, just tell me what interests you and I'll tell you what is best!

Sightseeing

Incredible view. I recommend the 6 mile hike open year round. In summer, you can drive right to it. Also, take a peek at the Iron Furnace there to learn some local history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Clay_Furnace

You need to book in advance, but worth the drive to learn some Pittsburgh history. Pictures are out of this world with an abandoned industrial vibe.

Local fort with an awesome museum, foreboding appearance, and great shops nearby. Uncle Joe's Bar in Ligonier has more stuffed animals than most museums. Although, I'd just walk through there and actually eat at Connections Cafe or any of the many options. And, don't forget the Creamery and Tea Room! This area will take you a day to explore.
