Great Anytime

Directly across PCH from the beach, Pacific City is a great place for shopping and dinner. It also boasts some amazing views of Huntington City Beach and the world famous, Huntington Beach Pier. With a couple of fire pits throughout the property, it's also nice to grab a coffee or dinner to go and cozy up next to the fire. Most shops within Pacific City open daily at 10:00 am. Some of my favorites: Free People, LuluLemon, Lush, and Tommy Bahamas. You will also find H&M, Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville just to name a few. The have a wide range of restaurants as well. BlueGold is one of our favorite and along with Bungalow they both have an amazing view.

Mama's has a large menu and never disappoints. You can order breakfast all day. They have an amazing weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas, but there there early (opens at 8:30). Also kid friendly.

Downtown Hunting Beach is the original HB. It's been rebuilt and upgraded but you can still see traces of some of the original buildings. Visit Main Street and hang out where the locals can be found. With plenty of shopping (mostly surf style clothing and accessories), assorted dining options and directly across from the pier, downtown HB/Main Street is a must see.

Corona Del and Crystal are about 8 miles south of HB. There are beautiful swimming beaches that are semi-protected. Beautiful views with some great restaurants. If you keep following PCH a little further south you'll drive into the beautiful art filled town of Laguna Beach and Main Beach.

Huntington Beach Pier Measuring 1,850 feet in length, the iconic Huntington Beach Pier is one of the longest piers on the West Coast. Jutting out into the Pacific Ocean at the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway, it symbolizes the heart of Huntington Beach and is the most photographed spot in town. Our pier's location allows visitors and locals alike to experience the breathtaking views amidst the sounds of crashing waves and the ocean breeze. Rebuilt after two storms in the 1980s, the pier is all about simple pleasures such as fishing off the pier or dining at Ruby's. It is free and open to the public daily from 5 am to midnight. Please note that dogs, bicycles, skateboards, and smoking are not permitted on the pier.

Food scene

We love BBQ but trying to find authentic BBQ near was was almost impossible until Beal's. Located in Peter's Landing in Sunset Beach (still apart of Huntington Beach), Beal's location is directly on the harbor. LA Eater by Cynthia Rebolledo Beale is not from Texas — he’s a Santa Ana native. He grew up with a single mother, so much of his childhood was spent hanging around the kitchen and watching her cook. Once a backyard hobbyist, the 50-year-old honed his skills with pitmaster Bill Cannon, the president of Texas BBQ Rub, who allowed Beale to compete with his team at the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. Beale opened his first restaurant in the city of Fontana in 2015, but it is no longer in business. Beale’s Texas BBQ is one of the two Black-owned restaurants in Huntington Beach, and one of just two dozen or so in all of Orange County. "One thing we know how to do in my family is cook — these recipes are old and have been passed down for generations — it came from my grandmother, she’s originally from Natchez, Mississippi. But my mom was my biggest influence, she would barbecue for every birthday and holiday, ribs and everything. Even the men can cook, I was standing on a chair at the kitchen stove at five-years-old. I’m just a guy that loves to cook and bring people together. You gotta cook with love, low and slow. I want to have that nostalgic effect so when you eat my food it triggers an emotional connection — it takes you back to your moms kitchen, your grandmother’s food, whatever it is for you.” “I use Bill Cannon’s rub, I call that my gold dust. We have different rubs for everything. And these are all homemade recipes. I blend all of my other rubs myself, I learned from watching my mom. A lot of seasonings and ingredients go into my rub, there’s a little bit of brown sugar in there, and that’s as much as I can tell you."
