Jet-fresh sushi housed in a modern space - order the krispy fried rice or splurge for the chef-selected omakase menu. A very knowledgeable staff when it comes to beverage recommendations, pairings, and dietary needs.

Consistently awarded the best burger spot in town, this local watering hole will make you quickly feel at home. Their juke box is also top notch.

Whether it's just a quick snack and beverage at the bar or a long meal to linger over, this new-ish establishment to Cherry Creek brings an inventive menu in posh surroundings. A reservation is recommended for dining, just in case. Part of the Halcyon hotel, ask the front desk about getting a seat in the hidden speakeasy located in the hotel's basement.

My favorite place to order a chai latte in town (they make their own daily, it's spicy), followed by a walk around Cheesman Park.

Fabulous sandwiches, my favorite is a reuben-style with housemade sauerkraut. They offer vegetarian and gluten-free options and you can order ahead for a quick pickup.

Neighborhoods

Congress Park is the neighborhood just north of Cherry Creek, with tree-lined streets and quaint bungalows. If Detroit-style pizza is your thing, some 'za from Blue Pan is worth the wait.

This neighborhood is built around the best park in the city (1.5+ mile running/ walking/ cycling loop around the lake), adorned with craftsman homes and lots of eateries to choose from. If you're craving a pizza, Homegrown is a fave (great gluten-free crust options), or Perdida just across the street for Baja-style Mexican cuisine and expertly made cocktails. Cap off your evening with ice cream at Bonnie Brae. Favorite coffee shops include Wash Perk and Devil's Food Bakery.

On just the other side the highway from Downtown Denver, the Lower Highlands (LOHI) offers multiple pockets of walkable neighborhoods, with a plethora of restaurants and nightlife. My favorites include El Five for upscale Mediterranean (a reservation is definitely needed in advance), Root Down for American fare (a great brunch menu, and very sensitive to dietary needs), Senor Bear for Latin small plates, My Neighbor Felix for Mexican, and Mizu Izakaya for sushi.

Affectionately called the "Brooklyn" of Denver, art reigns supreme in this neighborhood that's just north of downtown, a quick 10 minute ride from Cherry Creek. With mural-lined alleyways, there is a plethora of coffee shops, wine bars and eateries, and the best cocktail bar in town, Death & Co, all within a very walkable few blocks.
