The Independence Palace symbolizes Vietnam's victory, peace, and territorial integrity. On 30 April 1975, two North Vietnamese Army tanks crashed down the walls of the Independence Palace, resulting in the Republic's fall in Vietnam, the end of the Vietnam War, and the reunification of the entire country. I would highly recommended you to book a tour guide of this palace to have an understanding of the history.

Fine Arts Museum, or Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts, is one of the largest museums in Ho Chi Minh City. The owners of this construction changed through different periods of time, which associated with the historical events such as The August Revolution in 1945, the partition of the North and South in 1954, the collapse of the Republic of Vietnam in 1975 and the Renovation in 1986. Up to present, though Ho Chi Minh City has been changing in many ways, the architectural work still remains its antique appearance and embellishes the general development of Ho Chi Minh City.

The market is one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and an important symbol of the city. The market developed from informal markets created by early 17th-century street vendors gathering together near the Saigon River. Be careful of the scammers and thieves though. Always ask for the price first before deciding to buy or eat something. Don’t be too shy, try to negotiate the price a little bit whenever you want.

In order to combat better-supplied American and South Vietnamese forces during the Vietnam War, Communist guerrilla troops known as Viet Cong (VC) dug tens of thousands of miles of tunnels, including an extensive network running underneath the Cu Chi district northwest of Saigon. Soldiers used these underground routes to house troops, transport communications and supplies, lay booby traps and mount surprise attacks, after which they could disappear underground to safety. As Cu Chi is pretty far from the centre of Saigon, it would be better to book a half-day tour and go there with the tour's bus. With a tour guide you will get to know more about the history that happened in the tunnels. And don't forget to try the amazing and healthy dampened cassava after crawling through the tunnels and sweating!

Located in Can Gio District - about 2 hours car-ride from the centre of HCMC, Vam Sat lies between the two rivers Vam Sat and Long Tau. During resistance war against American invaders, Vam Sat was destroyed by bombs and defoliants, yet it’s now having the most gorgeous world biosphere reserve of mangrove forest. The Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve has been listed on UNESCO Website. I would recommend you to book a tour there. There’s a wide variety of activities which are offered at Vam Sat Tourist Center, of which both ecological and recreational aspects are included. The basis tour must include observing the unique ecological system of mangrove forest, visiting Bat Swamp, crocodile farm and also bird-watching.

Saigon’s Nguyen Hue St is a 60m wide pedestrian strip that runs from the colonial era People’s Committee Building, 900 metres down to the Saigon River and Bach Dang riverside park. The nightly congregation of locals here is a great experience of people watching. And there are some interesting little pieces of architecture and other tidbits along the way too. Nguyen Hue St is busy every night. On Saturdays and Sundays, the streets that run either side of the strip are closed to traffic - adding to the size of the space and drawing larger crowds.

Nightlife Heaven for the Youth in Saigon. Comparable to the famous Khao San street in Bangkok, Thailand, the so-called "Western Street" is crowded with backpackers coming here to have fun, try unfamiliar cuisines and explore a new place during their trip to Saigon. Be careful with your assets. Being an extremely crowded tourist interest, the safety of travelers coming to Bui Vien street has always been questioned.

Com Tam ("Broken Rice") as the name indicates are rice grains “broken” or fractured during the milling process. In its early days, Com Tam was a popular dish among poor rice farmers in the Mekong Delta due to their economic circumstances. It then gradually became the most popular and accessible dish in Saigon. Often it comes with grilled pork chop, meatloaf, pork skin, fried egg, egg cake and dip sauce from fish sauce. The best Com Tam is usually the one from street stalls. You can easily find Com Tam almost everywhere in Saigon, at every corner, in every street. Each stall or restaurant has their own secret recipe. Just try and pick out the best for you! In case you need a suggestion, we however have picked this one for you. Here you can enjoy not only Ca Phe Sua Da in a very authentic Saigon vibe, but also a very flavorful Com Tam.

Bun Dau Mam Tom (pressed rice noodles, fried freshly-made tofu and the dip sauce made from Mam Tom) - just another stinky delicacy in Vietnam. Even for Vietnamese, there are only two kinds of people: either you are in love with Mam Tom – the stinky traditional Vietnamese shrimp paste, or you despise it! Bun Dau Mam Tom is the most favorite food for millions of Vietnamese. Usually it also comes with cooked pork belly and a lot of healthy Asian herbs, and will be served on a traditional bamboo plate with banana leaves. If you don’t want Mam Tom, you can ask for Nuoc Mam – the simple fish sauce. With or without Mam Tom, if you are a fan of tofu, you should never miss out this dish! There are thousands of bistros and restaurants that serve Bun Dau Mam Tom, but this Dau Homemade restaurant chain is our most favorite sofar, for its service, food quality and hygienity.
