The best coffee in a cute space. They do pour overs and have great teas as well. If you are in a hurry and there are more than 4-5 people in line you may want to hit the next place but since you are on vacation and have nothing else to do you will be glad you stayed.

This is the closet coffee shop and they have great breakfast sandwiches and a few pastries. The coffee is good but I prefer Ipsentos

Good breakfast and a big hit with most people. If the wait is more than 30 minutes I don't think it's worth it but that's just me. Take a left on Charleston go 2 blocks to Damen.

Walking distance and a great scene. This is the only Costa Rican restaurant in the city. The food is a bit like Mexican but not. One of my favorite BYOB spots. Grab a bottle at Red and White across the street

A little pricey but a neighborhood staple. Great place to celebrate a special event. The food is fabulous and they have a great wine list. The space feels clubby but without the noise.

It is one block to the north and has a big open field where you can toss the ball, lay out or read. Behind the field house is an Olympic Size pool open to the public. It can get really crowded but in the mornings they do family swim and it is pretty open. Behind the pool you will see a playground suited for kids up to age 10 or so.
