This is my go-to beach place in the area. It's not in the Hamptons, but it's far east of all the well-known Nassau County Long Island beaches, so it is less crowded without Hampton prices. Daily parking is $18/day between 8:30am - 5pm; free after 5pm. At night they often have live bands with lots of townies getting their dance on.

The famous Fire Island is a unique feature of Long Island - you can't even get to these beaches by car, so there are no cars on this long string of islands. I've never been but it seems amazing!

This is a combination wooded park with lots of naturey things to check out, and a beach. You can go hiking or go on the boardwalk. It's one of the main places to check out on the north end of the island, along Long Island Sound.
