Tons of excellent places at one location :) I love this iconic historical place. Hősök tere is one of the major squares in Budapest, Hungary, noted for its iconic statue complex featuring the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other important national leaders, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It hosts the Museum of Fine Arts and the Műcsarnok. The square has played an important part in contemporary Hungarian history and has been a host to many political/cultural events. Besides it was one of the favorite place of skaters, bikers and families. Next to it You can find the ZOO, Circus, City Park (Vároliget), and the Vajdahunyad castle. Recommended to go here at night, too.

Church of St. Elizabeth of the House of Árpád is next to our flat. The impressive Neo-Gothic spires of this church rise to an impressive 76 metres above the city. Designed by Imre Steindl, the construction was finished in 1901. There is a beautiful rose garden surrounding this Catholic church; thus the name of the square, the "Square of Roses" (Rózsák tere).

St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent István-bazilika) is the largest church of Budapest. It was finished in Neo-classicist style in 1905, following 54 years of planning. Similarly to the Parliament, it is 96 meters high, which makes it the highest building of Budapest. Its capacity is 8,000 persons. The interior is characterized by rich ornamentation; the huge windows radiate dignity. This place was named after St. Stephen, the first Christian king of Hungary, whose mummified body is buried in the undercroft. His intactly preserved right hand, the Holy Dexter, is kept as a relic in the Basilica's chapel. The Basilica is also a significant musical venue, where various classical concerts are held.

It is next to the Hero's Square. Perfect for jogging :) There are lots of good places close and within. :) I was there several times as a youngster :) The outdoor ice rink in the City Park is also here. Skating in the huge open air Ice Rink here, which is on the top 10 list of Lonely Planet as one of the best places in Europe in winter time, paired with a warm bath in the Budapest baths (the marvelous Széchenyi Thermal Baths is next to it) should be a fabulous program idea :) (Skates can be borrowed at an affordable price. In summertime You can go boating to the same place, where the ice rink is)

It is the only capital in the world which has caves of significant size and length underneath its buildings and streets. More than two hundred caves are known under the Buda side of the town. For many maybe it is boring, but for me it is love. The best art cinema ever - my huge favorite. Tiny and lovely. I used to go here to fill up when I was fed up. There are films in original languages (subtitled/interpreted). You can even watch here silent movies with accompanist (live piano concert) if You are lucky. I always fell in love here :) (Nowadays there were some changes, actually its name is Art+Cinema)

At Telep Art Bar and Bistro, cream of the Budapest underground culture meets. This place is a very stable base of creatives, illustrators, longboarders, bikers, designers and individuals of course. Great bagels, gallery, night life, local beverages, beers, vines. Good to start here with a brunch including home made bagels, tapas, fingerfoods.Monthly changing exhibitions. Cosy by daytime in the heart of BP. There is a creative atelier at the basement, you can visit. Handmade backpack and longboard manufacture. By night, Sparkling nightlife in-and outside as well. Flagship of how creativity creates community.

Akvárium Klub, the surrounding , and the adjacent Deák Square together constitute the largest and perhaps best-known meeting point of Budapest. Thousands of youngsters gather here night after night to chill out in the park or on the steps of the club. Akvárium Klub is more than a simple bar: it is a culture center with a wide musical repertoire from mainstream to underground. There is always a good concert and a smashing exhibition, performance, or other event happening here, in a friendly scene. Furthermore, Volt-Lokál found inside brings the atmosphere of the best festivals to Budapest week by week. Check programs online here: http://en.akvariumklub.hu/

If you have never tried a supermarket elevator run by a lift boy with spirits and beer served in it, or haven’t been on the original steps (full of decals and graffiti) of the former „social realist” Corvin supermarket, or you are simply curious, how the logo of Kaisers and the Statue of Liberty look like next to each other, Corvin Terrace is for you. From the huge roof terrace - open in Summer till morning - you can have a unique view to the roofs, neon ads, and the hills of Buda. From Autumn till Spring you have to go one floor down to an indoor area bathed in red light reminding you of the colors and shapes of the 1980’s. Music: wide selection of electronic/techno. Mazel Tov is an open hearted cultural space in the city’s center, a streamlined and comforting place focusing on gastronomy in the 7th district, in the middle of the historically Jewish quarter, today’s downtown’s night-life center. This urban, recreational, dog-friendly garden laden with planted herbs and trees is transformed into a garden party location in the evenings. We wish to establish an informal, casual atmosphere, an easily digestible urban meeting point, which transforms into one of the most intimate and greenest arbors at dusk, every day of the week.

This is a fantastic and admirable place where everyone receives a warm welcome at the door, and anyone can find a home. “Nem Adom Fel” is Hungarian for “Never Give Up.” The Never Give Up Café & Bar is the first Café in Budapest to be founded and run by people with special needs. The Never Give Up Cafe is a social enterprise that provides an alternative workplace for the disabled. It is also an integrated public place for cultural events, which provides an opportunity for creating and maintaining respectful human connections. I recommend it because it is quite practicle and not far. PARKING HERE 0-24 - First 3 hours free, 300HUF/hours afterwards. (Please let me know if you see any change in parking fees. Thanks) Aréna Pláza is one of the city's youngest and largest malls. It was built on a former horse-racing track next to Keleti Railway Station, and even though it takes a little walking to get there from the stops of metro lines M2 and M4. Popular brands are available, and there is also a wide selection of cafés and restaurants. The first IMAX cinema of the city opened here but it’s not the only source of entertainment. During the winter months on its terrace there is an ice-skating ring.

VakVarjú ("BlindCrow")Excellent Hungarian style restaurant served in a modern way. Try the Hungarian Grey beef or the Mangalica porc and don't miss the poppy seed cake! Friendly stuff, pleasant area for a dinner and hanging out. Child friendly. Note: I marked that this place is good for "Late nights" too, because next to it there is a related pub, Vakegér ("BlindMouse") Where like stock market, there is drink market: It is the law of supply&demand that sets exchange rates of drinks at any given time ;)
