Mateo's is just a kind of 'hole in the wall' place. Not a good dinner atmosphere, but if you like burritos, they have the best and it is a short walk to the waterfront park on the Kennebec River. If the weather is good, you can take your burritos there and enjoy the river side as you eat.

It is hard to describe Five Islands! It is basically a wharf where you can buy a variety of food and sit outside on picnic tables and what is technically the Sheepscot river but feels like the Ocean, because at this point it is definitely tidal. If you go to Reid State Park Beach this would be the place to get a bite to eat.

This is a general store/restaurant that seems to be very popular, lots of cars, but we haven't been there ourselves. It is less than 5 minutes form here.

The Maritime Museum is an amazing place. It is located right where the schooners were built and shows the process where it actually happened and much more.

This is a fun aquarium with touch tanks and other ways to experience sea life right close up. It isn't too far from the Botanical Gardens if you go up that way.

This is a little known beautiful spot
The Green Point trail is just a couple of miles from us. It leads to a lovely place over looking the bay. There is usally a refreshing sea breeze. It is very private. In all the times we have gone we only met two other folks there once and they were on foot (no car in the parking area) so they were likely neighbors.

Popham Beach is close by. About 25 minutes. Lovely. When the tide is low you can walk out to a small island rock outcropping. Fun. But be sure to get back while the tide is still low or you will need to swim back.
