In 1971, the J. Armand Bombardier Museum opened its doors in Valcourt. Robert Bourassa, Premier of Quebec at the time, and Yvonne L. Bombardier, widow of the famous inventor and President of the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation, attended the inauguration ceremony. The first exhibition told Joseph-Armand Bombardier’s story through his inventions. The Bombardier Garage, the inventor’s first workspace, became a historical addition to the Museum in 1970, as the Museum was being built. In 1990, the Museum opened two new halls in the presence of Robert Bourassa, former Premier of Quebec, and Janine Bombardier, daughter of the inventor and president of the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation. For the first time, one of the halls presented an exhibition on the history of the world’s snowmobile industry and the evolution of this vehicle’s technology from 1960 to the present. Snowmobile models, winter clothing, racing vehicles, and interpretation panels helped visitors gain a better understanding of all the aspects of the industry. The other hall hosted temporary exhibitions on subjects related to the Museum’s themes. In 2012, a project was launched to renovate and expand the Museum to completely revitalize its facilities and exhibitions and to make it a unique institution open to the world. In February 2015, the Museum closed temporarily to move forward with the work required for its upgrading. In spring 2016, the institution will reopen its doors to the public, and will be known from then on as the Museum of Ingenuity J. Armand Bombardier.

Valcourt est la capital de la motoneige avec BRP - Ski Doo. Le Musée relate toutes l'évolution de Bombardier en plus de voir la "réserve" d'une variété de véhicule à travers le temps

S’il y a une chose que le Musée de l’ingéniosité a su faire au cours de ses 46 ans d’existence, c’est bien de se réinventer. En effet, avec son agrandissement, son Fab Lab (pour créer soi-même ses projets) et la touche multimédia appliquée à diverses animations, le Musée est une vitrine toujours très actuelle sur le patrimoine québécois. Un patrimoine illustré notamment par plus de 3000 artefacts, véhicules récréatifs, objets divers et prototypes exclusif
