Around the corner from Dookie Chase, this restaurant serves "soul food" in a humble setting. Their chicken is said to be the best in town. It's good!! $

7 minute walk away. It is on Saint Ann Street. It has some of the best fried chicken in all the city. The line gets long. Well worth the wait.

“Chef Leah Chase"The Queen of Creole Cusine" passed away last year at 96 years old. However, her legacy continues at her restaurant. The entryway is adorned with pictures of past Presidents, Popes, and other famous people who came to visit and enjoy the traditional southern/creole cooking. There's an interesting history of the restaurant in its early years and the civil rights movement in New Orleans during the '60s. There's a lunch buffet that includes fried chicken, catfish, greens, gumbo, and more. *The hours of this restaurant are extremely unusual and it's a bit off the beaten path, be sure to check the hours before leaving.
