Stop by on your walk downtown to visit the restored 2-story brick jail from 1904 featuring cells and jailer's quarters with period artifacts. Open for tours April-October.

Built in 1904, this historic site is open for visitors on Wednesday and Saturdays from April to October as well as Fridays June - August.

Check out this old jail turned into a museum. Lots of interesting artifacts including the old, handwritten incarceration logs. And if the kiddos are misbehaving ... well you'll know what to do! Also check out the old "Smithfield" cemetery directly across the street.

Old Brunswick County Jail Museum, located on the corners of Nash & Rhett Streets in Southport, is open for the summer season. The docents will offer free tours detailing the jail's history as visitors view original jail cells and other exhibits. The historic prison is one of the stops on the Walking Tour of Southport. Self-guided tours are available when the museum is open, from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday and Saturday from April - October and Friday afternoons in July and August. Check availability during COVID.
