We have some pretty affordable restaurants that make amazing food that are quite close by in Nelly Bay. a favourite of ours is Thai Again for traditional northern Thai food (Suggest booking this family run restaurant at least one day ahead). Even our new wine bar that's within walking distance on Sooning St does nice meals. I had a wonderful garlic prawn dish there last year. SOS seafood is a good fish n chip bar with fresh prawns, oysters, mud crab etc on offer too and alcoholic beverages to purchase if you wish with deck seating. Man Friday is also within walking distance and does good Mexican as well as a range of modern Australia and its BYO. Mamma Roma's Italian restaurant is in picnic Bay. It is a little pricier than some of the cafes but the meals are fabulous and authentic and every guest that goes there raves about how wonderful the meals are (worth booking ahead). The new brewery is right next door too. If you don't want to cook but don't feel like going out the IGA has a really big range as the locals shop there. It can be pricey on meat sometimes unless you buy what's on special. If you are planning a lot of BBQs, it's probably just as easy to go to woollies in North ward before you catch the ferry and buy your meats etc so you only need to carry a few bag of groceries over with your luggage and get smaller items like eggs, milk and bread, treats etc at IGA. IGA has a deli section with hot chickens and pre-prepared food that is delicious including lasagne, & some really good Indian meals from Masala restaurant on the mainland for about $12.50/meal. There are some great food options in Horseshoe Bay too that are accessible by bus for those without a car. Sandi's is a favourite among the locals and did a great job of hosting my daughter's wedding in 2019. Nice views of the beach from Horseshoe and picnic tables and swings make it an easy choice for Picnics or takeaway fish and chips from across the road. Alma Bay is another great beach for a picnic and is walking distance from the unit over Gabul Way and a stroll past Geoffrey Bay, then you are there. Acadia Pub across the road does meals too and is famous for hosting cane toad races. I expect most guests will enjoy the variety of places to dine out on the island without needing to spend a fortune.
