Robe's iconic red and white Obelisk is a favourite, must visit site for all visitors to Robe. It was constructed in1855 and was used to create a landmark so ships could navigate the entrance into Guichen Bay. Park at the Old Goal and walk to view the Obelisk.

The Iconic Robe Obelisk, walk along the walking tracks (from your front door, around the marina and over to the Obelisk - approx 1-1.5 hour round trip) or take a short drive to view.

There is so much maritime history in Robe, one of the wonderful towns along the Limestone Coast. There's a bitumenised and very easy walking trail along the coastline. It is a picturesque trail that can be started in town and goes to the Obelisk and Doorway Rock. There's seating along the way to take a break and enjoy the spectacular views. The total length of the walking trail is approximately 1.4kms and it's bike, wheelchair and pram friendly. Many thousand hopefuls landed here in this precarious bay in the 1850s drawn by the goldrushes in Victoria. From Robe, they walked to Ballarat and other sites.
