Stone steps is the site of the famous Stone Steps surfing contest. It is a locals spot and for great reason-beautiful beach, great waves stretching out in beautiful lines, and the possibility to be away from the crowd. There is a stairway at the top of South El Portal to get down to the beach. There is no parking lot so getting there early you may find a parking spot closer to the stairs than if you wait until noon.

In between Beacon's and Moonlight, steep stone steps lead to the beach below.

Like the name says, you'll have to clim the stone steps to get down to the beach. But we love it because there's always tons of space for your sprawl, and great surfing!
